I hear you. Though over time I've grown to accept it as a blessing as much as a curse. It was me who used term - Irotsuyasan was quoting me and is not to blame.

I used it in quotation marks to refer to it by the alliterative thematic term commonly used on porn sites. I fought internally about this since I also despise the word and actually was preparing to say so in my draft reply. I ended up using it against my better judgment, settling on inverted commas (and yet unqualified) as my expression of disdain for the usage. I recognize that by doing so I was perpetuating a derogatory phrase and this is antithetical to my desired behaviour.

I'd like to think of myself as an ally while also acknowledging that consuming TG-focused content might also feel to some both hypocritical and fetishistic. The nature of porn of course does normalize objectification. I have to assume that consenting participants (whether TG or not) assume that mantle, willingly or not, as a cost of being involved in the industry. However the real financial and personal costs that come with transitioning may mean that some women feel even more pressured into porn and that should not be overlooked.

I apologize if I caused any harm or distress to anyone. Thank you for commenting and giving me pause for thought. It means a lot that you'd bring it up in a public forum and call me out on it when that could have elicited a response from someone who doesn't respect the broad diversity of human identity and sexuality.
