Haru (Hikari Mitsushima) is an aimless college student trapped in a dead-end relationship with her dim-witted, cheating boyfriend. One day she’s approached by a girl named Riko (Eriko Nakamura) in a cafe and the two strike up a conversation. Riko works as a prosthetics artisan, creating aesthetic replacement parts for those lost in accidents or operations. It soon becomes apparent that Riko’s interest in Haru goes much further than simple friendship. Haru is initially receptive of this new level of attention, allowing Riko to whisk her away from the doldrums of her life to something far more fulfilling. However, Riko’s intensity and attentiveness eventually begins to border on suffocation, and although they make each other happy in various ways, Haru can’t seem to figure out what to make of the relationship.
