Yoshihiro Togashi has been on hiatus for god knows how long. I went ahead and bought physical copies of the Manga's English release as it came out. Volume 32 has been sitting at the top of the pile for a while now. I know that bookstores in Japan have considered the series "complete" and begun selling it in a bundle. (1-32.)

I was absolutely devastated when the Hunter X Hunter 2011 reboot got canned. I guess it was to be expected though, due to the lack of content from the original Manga sources.

Togashi is pretty warn out. Usually during his blurbs between manga releases, he pretty much wishes for his pains to go away. He must have it pretty rough healthwise, to be in perpetual pain for these past several years.

That said, Hunter X Hunter has returned and has begun reserialization. Hisoka is currently engaged in his dream match against Chrollo.
As for the anime, for the current amount of content out, it ends where Gon finally catches up to his dad.
