thanks - i will check it out. i have used quite a few of the free OCR for japanese that are online. most are just okay. i saw a discussion [somewhere?] about japanese cellphones, i can't recall which one they mentioned, having better capabilities to OCR, even 10 yrs ago, than what was currently on line. i wanted to grab an emulator of the cellphone tech to see how it would play.
