I have no information, but I have the impression that people on the contrary are buying everything.
Nope, the transition to digital is where the big change is in Japan, JAV sold well in Japan because people for the longest time bought and rented DVD's (and in part still do).

What non-Japanese people do is utterly irellevant since they never mattered in the first place.

Why still use optical disks?

Why still use optical disks?

For the same reason I still vastly prefer having music on CD (or vinyl) - album art, liner notes and having something tangible in your hands. I can always rip something to digital from it.

Digital porn is going the same way as music - favoring single scenes much as individual songs.

I understand having a quick fix of an artist/actress you like in a simple focused moment but there'd be something lost if the long form videos (120m+) die. Story and flow much as the same as if the album eventually goes the way of the dodo.

I think unless there's data to back up the claims of "decline of Jav" or "Jav is unprofitable"
it's just internet talk.
No one knows except the studios.

If "Jav is on the decline" that might be a personal issue who taste has shifted.

I know my taste of Jav is still in the early 90's -2000's, and don't find the current stuff to exciting/good. It's just there.

All I see is repeated storylines, porn actresses who's worry more about their surgery than
acting, and old male porn stars who look out of breath.

I'm not sure if there's penetration with these old guys anymore. The mosiac has become a great tool to fake a lot of things nowadays.

But those are my opinion and some will disagree.

And for those saying "jav is becoming unprofitable" really has no knowledge, unless
they work for the studios and/or have data to support that fact.

Also that's easy to say, when you are getting it for free.

Jav is going no where. And I feel it will have a resurgence when an innovated director is brought in.
