CDJapan's own ranking doesn't mean much. What actually matters is Oricon's.

http://www.jpopasia.com/charts/jpop/oricon/

They made #22 in week 15 but dropped out of top 30 in the following week. Unfortunately, they're not anywhere in the charts for the month of April.

You should poke around in this chart next time if you really want to see how your favorite artists are faring.

http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/

If you can't read Japanese, the top link on the left is CD Singles followed by CD Album. Pelo would be a single. After that, the inner links are daily, weekly, monthly, and annually.

I think granatnik and others here fairly well understand
that the linked CD Japan charts is only about what
is best selling in the CD Japan export chart and doesn't reflect
the total physical sales ranking. it only shows that the Pelo
single did well in export sales ranking.

Oricon is not accurate either as I explained in a post
earlier here in the thread.

They don't record all stores physical sales and
not sales of physical units done at events.
I'm not 100% sure if they have all export sales
included in their ranking. As Pelo was released
also as a international version. The Oricon chart
seem to only have the version that was release in
Japan.

Biggest reason why the singles sales ranking of Oricon
isn't accurate is because they don't so far include digital sales
of singles. And the physical unit sales have been declining
for many years now in Japan while the digital sales are
increasing.

The oricon links you provide are the physical CD single ranking.
There is only a digital album sales ranking on Oricon.

Haven't been able to find any ranking for how well Pelo
did in digital sales. I only know from posts on twitter that
it was places number one at Itunes during release as the
most sold Japanese artist single outside Japan.

One more thing. Oricon don't include the ranking of how
many times a music video is watched on youtube and others
sites.

So its hard to exactly know how well Pelo single did
in sales.

How well a idol group is doing is also these days reflected how
well they do live and how much merchandise they sell. As those
have become more important when the sales of physical CD are
dropping.

I guess they do well still as otherwise the major label wouldn't invest
in Rei and Rie like they do.

Anyway...some of us can read Japanese. Well I'm not superior at
it yet as I'm still learning :)

@fwildly: I did not bother with checking Oricon because, well, I did not expect entirely for them to appear there for another week. Too low numbers in the first week and this is not enka. CDJapan on the other hand is more like a feedback that the single wasn't already forgotten by foreigners, us exactly, but there are still fans that want it and this is what matters.

It also seems like Rei and Rie could perhaps have more fans overseas than in Japan considering comments on videos
and also on social media. It would be interesting to see how well the Pelo sales did on export compared to
sold singles within Japan. Not to forget digital sales as well.

I hope their producers and record label would take notice of the international
fans and get the girls to do some shows outside Japan as well.

There's no need to get all defensive. I do think that #22 on Oricon is very respectable even if its just for 1 week.

That said, physical CD sales do matter for Japanese idols as its technically part of the 'merchandise'. You don't need me to tell you that these CDs are often more than just CDs, and often have extras like even video DVDs, autographed photos, mini photo books, etc. All to justify the insane price of a CD in Japan. I'm not sure what else they included in Pelo though.

The girls appeared on Abema Sunday show yesterday.
Sadly this upload on youtube doesn't seem to be
complete. I hope Abema uploads the complete show
on their youtube channel.

They perform Pelo in end of video:

Another video here:

The girls are cute and some of their answers are really funny :)

Could we not limit this thread to modelling pictures and vids? It keeps getting bumped with stuff that isn't of great interest.

I would not favor such a limitation. Some of us are interested in news about the girls, and not just photos.

Well there ain't actually much new modeling pictures or videos to post.
If you didn't notice it, Rei isn't that much active anymore as a gravure model.

At least these posts about Rei's artist life and other activities keep
the thread alive.

I think most of us who like Rei are also into her other activities besides
modeling. At least I got that impression and it seems like these non modeling posts
are also appreciated by other members here. Or am I wrong?

Rei is more than just a gravure model and a body. She is also a person and a artist.
Her personality and what she does is also a large part why I think most of us love her and
why we find her interesting...right?

Guidelines for Gravure Idol Club says:

"This subforum is for discussion and picture-posting of Gravure Idols"

Also as long as we post about Rei related and don't talk about general things about
the idol industry. Then it seems to be fine to talk about her life and other activities
than being a model.

Like who on earth wouldn't like this?

Rei's Staff official account:

https://twitter.com/kuromiya_staff

Seems to be for posting information of Rei's other activities
than LADYBABY and BRATS.
Seems to be real as Rei herself mentions about it on her twitter.

Looks like Rei is getting a lot of bigger magazine appearances now
as she will be in HR and also BIS magazine ahead.
I'm happy as things are moving in a positive direction for her.

Just be glad they're not posting any more pictures of that harry guy dressed as a little girl. I'm fine with discussions and people being fans of her outside of the junior idol scene, but it was a bit much to see that on this site.
