It depends on the star. Ayumi Shinoda started a women's skin care company, got married, had a baby. She is now an Instagram star and does porn that she sells directly to her fans.

There are multiple options :
If you are fairly popular you can start another career in anything ( some even become influencer ), some can switch to b/series , tv show
Some start their own onlyfan / liveshow ( IMHO way more lucrative than doing porn )
If you're not that popular, you can find a husband abroad that will never now about you past
