being the google nazi that i am, i must ask here. what exactly is a neo-otaku?
im pretty deep into the idol world but i have absolutly noidea what this phrase means.

An otaku is nothing more than a person that obsesses over anything a little tooooo much. For example, if you dedicate your life to cartoon porn, then you are a hentai anime otaku. If you eat, live, breath, sleep Lucky Charms, then same thing, you're a cereal otaku.

So neo-otaku? You're a 'new-obsessive'. Voila :D

An old type of otaku is a nerd who cares little about anything but the object of his interest. It is the kind of guy who doesn't care about his clothing and appearance. He wears clothing out of fashion, intentionally or not. He is and looks like a nerd. He is distinguishable from common guys by his appearance. People call it "otaku look".

On the other hand a neo-otaku cares about other things besides his interest like common guys. For example he cares how he looks. He doesn't want to look like a nerd.

That's the difference.
