It depends on your speed, even with the account, one can only download about 5 GB per day, so in a couple of hours (at my 6MB speed), the quota is reached. Personally, I don't download that much (at times I don't even reach the quota) but when I see something, I want to fetch it as fast as possible (as opposed to torrents, sometimes I delete 75% completed torrents when I see it's already on DDL since they're slow for me)

I have had an account with RS for over 2 years and had very few problems. In fact the only problem I ever had with them was not actually their fault but my ISP's.

I would recommend it. Especially since it is probably the most commonly used host, at least for the kind of stuff I like to DL.

I know a lot of people slag off RS but I've had an account for a few years now and have had no trouble. Go for it!

I've been using Rapidshare for over 3 years now and it's really worth having a premium account.

You get more out of it if you share files though, you get points from downloads of your files which you can use to extend your account or now even convert to cash. If someone buys a premium account after clicking on one of your files it counts as a referal and you get a bunch of points, very useful.

I had a ton of JI material on my account but I nuked it all a while ago in a tin foil hat panic moment...

I have used a Rapidshare premium account since coming to Akiba (over a year now) and it's worked fine until about 6 months ago and at times now my downloads will freeze up and I have to start all over.
I now always say a little prayer when I download the last link of a vid.

I also use Megaupload and I'm more impressed with that service. Purchased that service the same time as Rapidshare and never have had a problem with it.

To show you how lazy I am, I get giddy when I see a vid uploaded to Megaupload as I know my download will go seamlessly and I only have to click my mouse twice versus three times with Rapidshare. I know...the brutal workout my index finger goes through with Rapidshare. :notice:

Another plus with Premiums accounts with both services is I get up to thirty simultaneous parallel downlods so I can download up to three vids at a time.

I'm not a high earner in the monetary world, but I see my investment in purchasing these two accounts like this...Downloading versus Buying each individual video. The choice is obvious and money well spent.

I've never paid for it, though, so I've never used it to keep files as I keep using the collector account(s), I don't think it is possible to convert rapidpoints to extend a premium account...

You could also start uploading to a collector account and wait until you get enough points to purchase the premium account, so you can check it out by yourself.
