I just returned from Tokyo, and the word on the street is, the 2020 Paralympics is out of money to continue.

It seems that will cripple the whole deal..

wow

I do not know Japan that well to know how it finances anything, but normally the Olympic movement would have guarantees in place to prevent this from happening, but the psychology of the country as a whole would be under threat, like Brazil is almost if not a 3rd world country now, and it would shame the Japanese government into not letting this happen, I suppose lets see what happens in the near future,

I have no idea how it views the Paralympics and its athletic community

cancellation is going to be a last minute thing, maybe a delay of a year will be more likely

was considering to make this post, but wasn't sure. Glad someone else did it so I can respond to it. Sadly, a lot of the pre Olympics prep changes to Japan aren't going to be reversed. It's effect on both U-15 and JAV has pretty much been irreversible. Its sort of laughable to a certain point. And what has it been for? NOTHING!

"Nothing From Nothing Leaves Nothing" to quote a Karaoke song.
Canada and Australia both have pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics.
As they say, "The End Is Near"..

I'm fortunate enough to still be working during this crisis. I last visited Japan in fall 2017 and I believe I really should consider the idea of visiting Tokyo in 2021, now that I may have the ability to prepare for such a trip.

I hope you all stay safe and healthy. What ever country you hail from, I hope the best for you all.

Consider it cancelled by now. I think Tokyo Olympics will be known as the first Olympics to be cancelled due to a pandemic, remembering that the last two times that an olympics was cancelled was due to war.

Sad, but better safe as they say.

I believe they are right in delaying it for now

studies on recovered patients shows that the virus caused some long term effects on some of the organs. You do not want your young and promising atheletes' career to end prematurely.
