Yes, at least with the description we have an idea of what they are talking about, thanks.

I have read that Google Translate now can translate real conversations in real-time. Maybe soon we can use a phone with Google Translate over the speakers to translate VR porn to english... :D

What are some of the better Japanese websites where you can search for VR and then copy the catalogue code to search on torrents sites?

I encourage everyone to explore VR with anything they can come by and afford first. I've been saying since way back when I started this thread here on Akiba that experiencing JAV VR would be amazing for those who try. Yes there are some heavy duty rigs out there, they started big and clunky and expensive and tethered to a PC. By most accounts they are a bit better now.. There are some entry level units as well. That's what I started with and eventually got to the Gear VR and my Samsung phones. Subjectively that's good for me. I'm happy and okay with it and just as subjective is what I perceive. If there are screen door effects going on i certainly don't see them or let them distract if i happen to notice them.

Absolutely what some say here i believe. Crystal clear women in front of you. I've just never experienced it myself but I certainly don't feel bad about it or wish I could and shun what I do have. Maybe some day I'll consider spending the money but since I don't game with VR I only use it for eye candy I can't justify it. So my Gear VR serves me well enough.

There are those who go straight for the Lamborghini. And there are those who are a little reserved and practical. Nothing wrong with either avenue. But, for those after that Lamborghini, consider using what you have in your pocket just to get the idea. Hopefully some of you are! If anything, since we all have different eyes some may say Hey this is amazing and not half bad! I like it! And there will be others that say Nah, this isn't good I want the Lamborghini.

Whatever your case may be, try this out if you haven't on some type of gear you can readily use and/or afford. There is SO much content out there. Maybe enjoy the quantity before worrying about the quality. :D
Right! I still use Google cardboard and it's fine for my needs. I got straps and everything to hold my mobile to my head. It's super cheap. The only problem is it won't play very high resolution due to hardware limitations of course. But it's not like I watch HOURS of be porn either. It's only to be the job done.

See, that's my issue as well. I got by just fine back when they only had 30fps titles. Like I say and I'm sure many find it hard to conceive, but, I don't watch normal JAV in 60fps, so, when I watched VR it was like I was in a normal (non 60fps) JAV title. Yes, when I watch Gravure style or Idol titles, 60fps is amazing. Don't ask me why I separate the two. But, normal VR that isn't super HQ 60fps does it just fine for me and is <=2GB in size instead of 6-8GB or higher! AND most gear can handle it.

So, here are some different versions of a 6 second clip from EXVR-323. Which ones can you play comfortably and correctly on your Cardboard?

84exvr00323pl.jpg

EXVR-323A
3840x1920 | 29.97 fps | about 3858 Kbps as clipped, so, roughly 4000 Kbps
EXVR-323A.mkv (2.8 Mb)

EXVR-323B
3840x1920 | 29.97 fps | about 5796 Kbps as clipped, so, roughly 6000 Kbps
EXVR-323B.mkv (4.2 Mb)

EXVR-323C
3840x1920 | 29.97 fps | about 10.3 Mbps as clipped, so, roughly 10 Mbps?
EXVR-323C.mkv (7.4 Mb)

EXVR-323D
4320x2160 | 59.97 fps | about 19.8 Mbps as clipped, so, roughly 20 Mbps?
EXVR-323D.mkv (15.2 Mb)

I am uncomfortably excited about this release. Speaking of fps...this will be the first true 60 fps VR we've had from Hitomi.

Even though it's fine with 2D video, personally I can't watch 30 fps VR - it just stops looking like motion and more like a series of images. Most of the 60 fps videos interpolated from a 30 fps source is a little better, but there's usually lots of motion artifacts if the girl is too close or the motion is too fast. Note I'm using an OG Vive here, on the wait list for an Index...maybe 30 fps video isn't as bad with other headsets.

30 fps can break your eyes in VR. Well, not really, but it is very unconfortable, and as bobroberts23 says, when there are movement the motion is broken and you see a series of images. Specially because modern glasses use screens with 80, 90, even 120 Hz.

It is the reason all VR companies now film at 60 fps.

Casshern2 uses a smartphone so his screen runs at 60 Hz. Possibly 30 fps (30 Hz) is tolerable but still the video flicks. But at 90 or 120 Hz, a 30 fps video in VR is almost unwatchable.

All perception I guess. SDE? If I look for it I see it. But, I've never seen or noticed any flickering in anything I've seen, even the early VR using my then Samsung Note 5 or now. Your gear produces flickering?

EDIT! Allow me to clarify! I am in no way saying I don't grab 60fps titles. No no no. Don't get that impression, sorry if that's what I've been sounding like. I know very well the advantages of higher bitrates and 60fps video. My whole point is not dissuade members out there from trying VR anyway they can first. Anything to get them excited about it! For example, the Hitomi title releasing tomorrow, I don't care how large the files are, I'm getting the highest quality possible. :D

If you watch a 30 fps (30 Hz) video on a 60 Hz screen the flickering always exists. Because the video only have 30 frames per second and your screen needs 60 frames every second. The player can interpolate frames (add fake frames) but the flickering exists. Your eyes can notice less or more, but exists.

The real problem is that modern VR glasses have screens with 90 and 120 Hz, even 144 Hz, and with so little frames, a 30 fps video is almost unwatchable. My Samsung Odyssey Plus has a 90 Hz screen and I always download 60 fps videos.

I respect your point of view ("not dissuade members out there from trying VR anyway they can first".) but I think it is wrong. Because this strategy has killed VR. Google Cardboard and smartphone VR have died because the bad quality of this VR. There are not games or experiences anymore because the users have abandoned smartphone VR, because it is a very limited experience. Now only exists because the VR porn.

Of course you can be perfectly happy with your Samsung Gear and Bill Cliton with his Google Cardboard, and it is fine. But you are the exception because 90% of users with this hardware have abandoned it.

My position is to buy the best VR hardware you can pay. Because only with good hardware, VR can survive. For me, Oculus Go is the minimum. Then Quest, PC VR and so on. Smartphone VR is very limited and 90% of the users abandon it.

Without users, VR porn will die. And now I can't live without JAV VR porn... :D

Is there some trade magazine or website that has those percentages of abandonment? I have to say, on every Western VR site you can imagine, to this very day, they have all levels of VR available for their content. Why? Because they know the users are out there in force purchasing from them. They businesses. Like every business you have to believe that what doesn't make money for them doesn't get the attention, no. For games and gamers that have adopted VR I would have to agree, phone-based gaming is for casual gamers and probably doesn't produce enough revenue for developers to keep making things for lower end devices. But, porn? No, I still tend to believe that porn still caters to anyone and everyone that wants to spend money to consume it. The studios and content produces would be fools not to.

Okay, I stopped at these sites because I so far can't find one that doesn't provide the content you say is abandoned by 90% of users. And again, friend, you and I can disagree and we are certainly not at odds as members here (we're all friends) I just don't see or find or experience that VR landscape you're describing as existing. I see it available virtually everywhere.

When I talk about abandonment, I am talking about platforms. Google has abandoned Google Cardboard and Google Daydream. Samsung has abandoned Gear, and so on.

Why? Because the users are not interested on smartphone VR anymore. Why? In my opinion, because it is a very basic, a "bad" experience.

As I said the only smartphone VR activity that is "active" is VR porn. But it is a matter of time that Google says "VR won't be compatible with Android 11 or Android 12", or it won't be updated anymore. I hope it doesn't happen.

My point is that bad or limited hardware will kill VR, and the evidences are there. Google, Samsung and others have killed their VR platforms, because nobody use them besides porn.

And without hardware, there are not new users...

You can invite people to try VR porn with Google Cardboard or a smartphone, and maybe they like it. But honesty I thing they are more likely to like it and not give it up, if they use better hardware.

Oh, I see. You mentioned users, though, had abandoned smartphone VR (90%? Still, where do you get that figure???) and that the strategy killed VR? It started the technology as a mass market adoption. And if it only exists now because of VR porn, I can't think of a better reason to still be around. :D

I just happen to think there are way more casual VR gamers and of course VR porn lovers then one might think. And I also think the reason Cardboard, the grandfather of phone-based VR, is still being produced for by the studios is exactly because it is entry level and gets users into the technology, not to mention the portability of it all the way to, including, and beyond the Gear VR. Yes, Samsung will eventually, itself, cease Gear VR things if it hasn't already, but, the units are out there, nothing can change that. You can still find DVD Players, brand new models, out there for sale and of course blu-ray players can still play DVD titles. Because people still have them and continue to buy them. Heck, I have a good portion of a shelf filled with them. The first blu-ray movies came out in 2006, that was 14 years ago, yet, you can find DVDs for sale of all the back catalog of titles and up to the latest blockbusters.

But, we're probably both right in certain ways I would think. The good news VR is going to be here for quite some time, so, we can enjoy it in any way we can, right, friend?

Hey, You are playing dirty, trying to close my mouth with the only thing that can shut up me... Releases!!! :D

We both have different opinions, but that's OK. I would like to be as optimistic as you, anyway... Let's see.

Hitomi is all that I need from that bunch... ;)

I would suggest just the opposite: porn will be what saves VR.

Never underestimate the power of porn to drive technology. Early adoption of VCRs was driven by people wanting to watch porn videos at home for the first time. In its first few years, the Internet was about half porn - people quickly adopted it once they realized you could use it to see naked ladies. (It's less than 10% porn now, not because porn got smaller, but because secondary needs finally caught up. Pornhub still gets more traffic than Amazon.) Broadband adoption was driven by the desire for data rates that permit video transfer - porn clips and cam sites.

There will always be a demand for better porn at your fingertips. The barrier for VR entry is steep right now - expensive, bulky, lots of wires, poor-quality video - but literally all of those things applied to the first VCRs, too. It's the early adopters that end up funding research for subsequent generations of the tech.

I hope so because in the last year the only porn I have watched is VR porn. It is the next level. Flat porn it now boring and uninteresting for me... I couldn't going back to standard porn...
