hey all I'm KONMARI-ing my JAV stash and before I do that I want to post them if they have never been posted here or had been removed...

I have the original torrent tracker/file, but I can't reseed them because of the above error

I've been thru numerous HDD's and hadn't kept the drive labeling consistent..so I got a lot of these errors

I DON'T want to create a new torrent.

Is there a way to reconnect the files to the original torrent?

Also I'm an old fart so if you can explain it in simple terms

thanks for any help

Hi Hairy_Bush,

First, are you completely sure that the original torrent matches the movie? Probably you are but there can be problems particularly if you don't have every single file that originally downloaded with your movie. The torrent will look for those missing files and even if you succeed in getting the torrent to work by deselecting those files anybody else downloading your original torrent will have the same problem. They will be able to download the movie but not any of the other files unless they deselect those files. A lot of people don't know how to do that and they will think the movie never completes.

In my opinion it would be far easier to just make a new torrent for the files you want to upload. I trust you know how to do that. It's fast and simple and then people will download a more useful torrent with uptodate trackers. Your old torrents might not work anyway. I suppose you will want to use the Sukebei tracker and upload both there and at Akiba-online.

Are you in Japan? Not sure that makes a difference, but it might if your IP address led back to Japan. But, really, I'm having trouble seeing how using an old torrent is actually going to be any different from a new torrent in that both need to be initially seeded? After it is seeded and others are seeding I don't see how the origin can be traced back to you. Seems the most danger would be in the initial seeding whether the torrent is old or new. Anyway, there are probably ways to block your origin through some sort of seed box and VPN. I know you can post annon on Sukebei. I'm not aware of Sukebei ever revealing a poster's identity. But, if you have such fear maybe just don't do it.

Anyway! have you tried getting the original torrent to work this way?

1. put movie file in specific folder.
2. Load the torrent and try to start it.
3. The torrent should create either a folder or file with a specific name. Copy this name exactly.
4. Rename your folder in step 1.
5. remove the torrent file and close the bittorent program.
6. open the program and go to settings and specify the path where torrents should be downloaded. i.e., your location in #1
7. Load the torrent but do not start it up!
8. Force recheck. The recheck should now check the file you placed in #1, but it will fail for any other files that you don't have in that folder (or location).

Can you get this far successfully?

If so, I'm not sure how you overcome the missing file situation. Others will DL the torrent and while your seed for the main movie will succeed the download will never complete due to the missing files. Yes, you can deselect all the missing files but others with the torrent won't be aware that they need to do that. Sure, over time most will realize that they got the main event. Hey, it could be a not so sneaky way of getting people to seed longer.I'm pretty sure sometimes files are held back just to keep people waiting around longer.
