wow. you own an action camera and you have a variety of lenses.
For travels, what lenses did you bring?
Hope you don't mind if I say something.
Travel light unless you are going to shoot scenery like Mount Fuji.
Bring one camera and one lens.
If possible, a small camera (like Fujifilm X100 series) with a fixed lens.
For travels, enjoy the journey is more important than taking photos with bulky equipment.
And don't forget, you have your luggage to worry about if you are moving around to different prefecture.
If you want, maybe a prime like 35mm f1.8 to pair with your D500. Or if you want a wide angle, the 18-140 which you have will be good. But you will suffer at night or in low light conditions.
Till date, I always travel with a full frame (10 year old technology) and a 50mm f1.8D and still feels heavy due to the weight of the camera body. There is a lot of restrictions for wide angle shots but I don't care. And I can still afford to shoot in low light with almost total darkness late at night. But I will prefer a much lighter camera. The fujifilm X100 series will compromise in low light situations due to their not so high iso capabilities as compared to a aging full frame.
I will not suggest you getting a new lens for travel since you have so many at your disposal.
I, like you, used to salivate at a lot of equipment and lenses.
What to buy next and so on and I ended up not buying any.
And I am very happy with it.
Instead, save up the money for the next Japan trip after this one!!!

I do have a nice selection of Nikons..
D500, D7200 AW120 (For scuba dives) and some older film cameras.
Yes, I used the AW120 in Australia to dive the "Barrier Reef".
The others were for tourist pix. Daintree Rainforest, old buildings etc.
I did want to dive off the South of Japan, as I hear they have some old under water structures there.
