The award ended. https://mobile.twitter.com/dmmadultaward tweets out the winner.

The website will update the winners gallery soon with the edited version of the full movie performance. The main winners are arina hashimoto and shoko. The nominees are a bit lackluster, but arina deserves it more than moe did in march. Shoko is obviously a love or hate win since her titles and performances are quite repetitive, but she sells and is still a best seller. You can check their twitters for more photos bts or afterward. Set sora shina dress up like a dude in a shoot instead of a dress. The dominant lesbian is going strong. Asuka and yua mikami presented the award /pass of the torch of their win last year. Jessica, the veteran this year won nothing for her 9/10th year in the industry..

Best Actress Award: Arina Hashimoto
Excellent Actress Award: Shoko Takahashi
Best Newcomer Award: Sakura Momo
Excellence Newcomer Award: Miura Sakura
Special Prize: Nanami Matsumoto
Topic Award: Makoto Toda
Weekly Playboy Award: Arina Hashimoto
Special Presenter Award: Akari Tsumugi

Kind of meh on most of the awards, although I was glad to see Miura Sakura win something.

Is Excellent Actress Award given to the second place in the Best Actress category? If not, what's the difference? Shouldn't the best be also excellent? And who is Arina Hashimoto? How come Takahashi Shouko won an award? And what do the rest of these awards mean? Why don't I know any of this? What is happening in the JAV world? And where is my medication?

Arina is from S1 and to me, she's one of the few that make good movies with this studio (she's great at BJ and a good actress overall). Her long legs are one of her charm points, and on internet, a lot of guys like it.
And Shoko won because I guess she's still very popular. She's also one of the few gravure idol who succeed in her JAV transition. She has a hot body (no fat, nice butt and big boobs), good acting and skills.

Is it me or NONE of the ladies up for awards have anything strikingly unique about their looks? Is it just the older mature JAV actresses that look that much different than the next one?

To clarify @silent1one 's translation, in Japanese the awards are "最優秀xx賞" (most excellent xx award) and "優秀xx賞" (excellent xx award) under each category "xx賞", so yes those are No.1 and runner-up (no. 2) for each category.

There's a further explanation (barely) for the "Special Award" won by Nanami Matsumoto, for 2017年特別な活動を行った女優に送られる賞 ("Award sent to actress who performed special activities in 2017" according to Google Translate) I'm very curious what special activity was performed by Nanami Matsumoto.

LOL it's possible to tell them apart if you pay attention. Arina Hashimoto has a classic Japanese beauty look (meaning small tits). Shoko is fairly distinct. But generally yes... S1 and Moodyz (IdeaPocket too if you count Momo Sakura) each have collet a bunch of busty girls who look rather similar to each other.

Arina got her long legs and those eyes. Shoko like mikami pretty much are dmm fav best sellers and is a show to help them sell more.

Thanks for the answers! Somehow I never got into S1 so to me Arina Hashimoto was a name that I had never even seen before (not even on this board!) so I was genuinely surprised. And Shouko is good, I agree (although I stopped watching her after her Female Teacher title), but not award-winning-in-excellence worthy. I would have expected someone like Akiho Yoshizawa to win. I think she had a compilation title a few months back to commemorate her 15th anniversary in the JAV industry. 15 years and still going strong! What's excellence if not that?

Maybe it's just me being an old and cranky dinosaur, but these new stars all look bland and generic when compared to the Sora Aoi/Minori Hatsune/Yuma Asami/Mihiro generation.
But the awards are rigged beyond belief, so nobody should care anyway.

With Rion, Yua Mikami and Saki Okuda, Arina is one of the few that stand out for me among S1 Girls. I think her name was mentionned here before, but only very few times (which is sad).

I've seen videos of those girls and I think there are still also girls that stand out in this generation. Less than before, for sure, but for example, everybody knows Rion or Yua Mikami. Yua's movies are pretty much similar to what Sora did.

Satomi is in her 15th year too. A lot are reaching 10 like jessica, amami, yui, hibiki, etc. shoko does sells and this is the dmm awards so there's definitely biasness towards promoting her more because of her ex-idol background and scandal, but it's not really rigging. I wouldn't be surprise if people did vote for her. Jessica went home empty handed, but it's not like a pretentious acting award you can be proud of and show it off to family and friend. It does points out your current success and state in the industry. The last dmm veteran av idol that won was hibiki from 2 years ago. Back then there's okita and more. This year favors more petite girls with some baby fat. Shina is pushing her boy side with her suit.

A lot of girls left and more girls join along with paycuts, I wouldn't be sure if the veteran girls would stay longer if they can find success like sora, mihiro, and Maria alike. I think amami and kirara continued to stay because they manage to score a better contract or other perks. Despite removing her titles online, mihiro still manage to score gigs to star with the current muscat girls on abematv variety show segments. I'm surprised she did that even though she's not coerced or tries to distance herself from av. Her biopic shows her like a lot of girls like Okazaki emiri, yui, sora, Aino, and a lot more join av because gravure/pseudo modeling/acting aren't giving them much monetary wise nor much appearance. Emiri's interview manage to hit 4 millions and I don't know the fame helps her or not. Countless pornstars, troubled teen freaks, and more go on dr.phil and manage to make a career out of flexing themselves publicly.

Av is like their quick shot to stardom and earn enough to do other things, but stick a bit longer because they got the looks and fans while dont have much options after retirement. There's a recent article about Riku minato save up and trying to pursue other things after av. Of course, av isn't a comfortable job with everyone especially with more competitions and girls need to look good, lie about their age or surgery, and fake it to get in to character to drive sales when fans can just pirate everyhtung online. Some are getting old and some doesn't even have pocket money left after investing in cosmetics to make themselves stand out.

I might be in the same boat. Miki Sato looked nothing like Rio Hamasaki, who looked nothing like Naho Hazuki, who looked nothing like Ai Uehara, who looked nothing like...well, you get it. Recently they all have a similar look. NOT that they look the same, they just don't look as dissimilar to each other as the last wave in the industry. Makes it seem like there is really no variety.

every generation have its own gem, but overall I agree with you, this year is the worst compare to last 5 years, andd high quality performers became very rare in recent generation :(
