Her apparent commitment to privacy only adds to her appeal, IMO. However it may also prevent her from earning more. Given her modest popularity, I don't think she is making a lot of money nowadays (Mihiro was a case os rare success!). However she seems to be happy with things as they are now.

Differently from you, and although I don't have statistical data, I think she was one of the most popular IdeaPocket girls at the time and could have continued working for that studio for a long time more. Her sudden and unannounced retirement seems to have been due to private life reasons (probably a relationship) and not for lack of work. There is an outdated Facebook page that seems legitimate where she says to be living in Canada. The page has been inactive for years though.

The case of Akiho Yoshizawa, which you mention, offers an interesting comparison. Both she and Sarasa were born in 1984. Akiho however seems to continue doing more interesting work. I say this based just in the covers of Akiho's videos, which I don't watch since I don't find her attractive. This raises a few questions in my mind: Could Sarasa find a different line of JAV work if she wanted to? Is she with Attackers just because she has no better option? Does she like the kind of story-line videos Attackers do?

Anyway, it is somewhat remarkable that she has been with Attackers for so long. It means that, despite her seemingly limited popularity, her work is still profitable enough for the studio. IMO, her current career with Attackers has some resemblance with the career she had with IP: in both cases she stayed with the studio a long time, doing monthly and somewhat repetitive videos, without seeking a different and more ambitious professional stage, although this seemed/seems to be within her grasp given not only her incredible beauty but also her acting skills. I mean, she has all that it takes to go higher in "life" (looks, acting skills, lack of inhibition, apparent willingness to do whatever the director asks) but she doesn't seem to have the ambition to do it.

Akiho works for 2 studios and like yui hatano, she got a decent following in china, Taiwan, and hk because she looks like a local celebrity, which grant her more opportunity to film minor commercials, movies, and events there in the last decade. Like rio chin job, she got some enhancement to her face noticeably her eyes. Some say she got a minor implant, but not as obvious as tsukasa Aoi. Sarasa hiatus and change of name did weaken her status and career especially with the rise of mikami, shoko, and momo alike each year. She doesn't seem that ambitious like using av to get in to variety, singing, or acting like others. Btw mihiro was popular, but she was always like the second tier when there's rio, sora, Maria Ozawa, and yui Aida during her career. Akiho done well for the last 15 Years. She beats out mihiro, sora, and Maria who all started around the same time, but retired in 2010. She's filming av twice as long as them and manage to maintain her status.

Attackers is the sister company of ideapocket and I forgot which spins off from which. I think ideapocket broke out from attackers because they want to compete with s1, maxa, and alice Japan etc with new debuts aka teen angel goddess series. Something akin to those chobit and video girl ai series. However, nowadays ideapocket are doing r*** too. Most ideapocket girls like kijimi, Nozomi Mayu, amami, jessica, and a few more did switch to attackers temporally and permanently, so I don't know if ideapocket wants to clear the older girls from acting young in order to promote new girls like momo sakura and momonogi sakura. I guess age and the decrease in pay made rio, Aino, and miyuki retiring around the same time at the end of 2015. I think amami might have finished all her shoots and are just promoting her movies monthly at events nowadays since some av can be prefilmed like half a year ahead of time like moe's title.

I looked back at some articles and yeah the competitions is strong and some girls are in bad term like tia outing her muscat gig was a nightmare offscreen. Japan may have a lot of whacky humor comedy, but the bts can be brutal.

There's a lot of av idols compare to the so called 70 main av men. A lot of them are literally working slightly above minimum wage for maybe filming one or two or maybe more titles a week and since they're less appealing and might be one of those niche then they don't get much fans attending their events and studios won't promote them. Av idols can be pretty poor too and living from month to month only without much savings since they need to buy their own makeup to look good for camera. Girls like yua mikami get jumpstart of a huge payout for her debut, which earns her enough to buy a tiny apartment in tokyo. Not to mention she gets hire to attend events all around Asia and she's going to anime convention in Texas I think.

Yes, there are many girls in JAV but the cream of the industry are really very few (3? 4?), and for me Sarara is in the very top. I would expect top actress to fare better than the crowd.

Lack of promotion by the studio/agency is blatant in Sarasa's case. I am even surprised that Attackers deigned to post a few pics of her in Twitter during the last few weeks. It was a rare thing to see. Usually she simply did not exist in social media terms. However, Attackers often promoted other girls, which seemed to me very unfair.

Could it be possible that she shies from publicity?? I note that her blog has had long periods of silence (sometimes she doesn't post during months). This is startling, if we consider how easy it is to do promotion nowadays. Anyone of us can do it for free in Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. You don't even need to leave your home.

Moreover, I am also surprised that Sarasa has not found a career outside JAV as some of the best girls have: Nao Oikawa, Mihiro...

And something else: I find r*** videos generally boring. IMO they don't allow the girls to shine as they can. There seems to be an important market for them though, given the many great girls that have worked for Attackers.

Her old blogs like a lot of retire idols are wipe clean or deleted in favor of a new one if they're still staying in the limelight. You can still check out the archive of her old blog from wiki with most photos gone, but I'm interest in digging about her past entries. https://web.archive.org/web/20100306021707/http://blog.dmm.co.jp/actress/hara_sarasa/

Some girls like mihiro are in to the limelight and probably can't live a normal life and get back to her hometown with her family and friends. Not that is awkward and I assume they all learn to accepts and besides she made a very bais memoir about herself that's loosely base on her life that got adapted in to a biopic. Didnt she had an affair with a very old comedy actor when she was doing sketches. Even after marriage, mihiro, sora, and anri still love to act and sing even if it's playing stereotypical av sluts or just appealing to their group of fans. Sarasa never did any acting, singing, or was part of any group. I assume she turn it down because I'm sure she could easily get in to muscat generation 1 back then as the second tier.

Attackers despite its name is very vanilla compares to what others like yui and ai uehara used to film rxpe or not.

Have a look in her old "private" blog, which is still there: http://salasa363.blog84.fc2.com

Yes, Sarasa never sought a career in music, etc. She seems to be in the JAV industry because she really likes it. I reach this conclusion based in several statements she made over time, e.g.: in video DV-903 she says that she took an interest in the industry; in her first Moodyz video she says that she continued following the industry during her temporary retirement.
There seems to be a "special relation" between her and sex, which may be one of the reasons of her appeal.

I forgot how grainy pic were and everyone pretty much uses twitter and Instagram and weibo to target Chinese and Taiwanese fans. Idols used to write paragraph entries on a daily basis like sora era in 2004, but could be questionable that agencies help the idols write and update sometimes. She could find better partners off screen and can do homemade amateur sextapes. She doesn't look like those pretentious sex researcher. It's really just seem like financial stability for her to me. Given her partners aren't that bad compares to what other av idols are pair up with. If it's not for contract limiting their decision to turn down, I don't think girls would want to sleep with some of the actors off camera unless they're really rich or have a charismatic personality. All sarasa works are literally the same copy and paste to me Now including the covers.

Although I am not very happy with her Attackers work it is a lot better to have her still working than not have her working at all. A way of supporting is buying her videos from R18, which I do.

Be nice to see her do one of those live chat for dmm. Even tia is coming back to dmm in march despite streaming on YouTube weekly.

What live chats do you mean? Could you send me a link?
There a streaming thread on the front page and a lot of idols do different kind of streams. I don't see sarasa doing one. Some are cam show strip tease, but no masturbation while others are just q&a like twitcasting.

I'm sure She did some interviews in the past in av intro or interviews for an adult magazine in general, but it could be highly scripted by the agency.

Sure, she did some interviews in her earlier videos, some of which have been translated to English (see Erojapanese.com, for example). The latest interview I remember was for her first Moodyz video.

Are you only loyal and obsess with knowing more about sarasa only? You seem like you're only in to her,

I like to know more about the actresses I follow, which are very few, Sarasa being the first of them. Among currently active ones I also follow Airi Suzumura and Yume Takeda...and I think that’s all.

There isn't much to follow about her unlike av idols like sora Aoi, Maria Ozawa, mihiro, anri okita. Even after retirement they're still appearing in music, movies, and tv every now and then using their av personas to communicate with fans. Other girls that are popular in Asia for having celebrity look alike gets a lot of opportunity to film stuff, attend events, make some dirty headline in mainstream news. Even most of the muscat girls are all going after the attentions. Some also got hit with some scandals with drugs or an affair. Sarasa is just there filming av. There's not a whole lot of other side to fascinate about especially when she doesn't do twitter or instagram where fans always try to conspire and decrypt some stuffs. I think not joining any group or appear much outside of filming the same av limit her. Other av idols get more promotions, opportunities from all over Asia even after retirement.
