The problem is that management selectively enforces the rules, mostly based on popularity- if the girl is popular (see Kashiwagi Yuki, who had a couple scandals), they'll ignored it and pretend it didn't happen, but if the girl is less popular, she may be forced out (or will "graduate" shortly thereafter, supposedly by their own choice but I have doubts- see Owada Nana and Nishino Miki, who after being caught with Johnny's boys both "graduated" a couple months later within short periods of each other).

Popularity is a key factor I agree. Those two weren't among the most popular of their generation.

For kpop it is included in their contracts a lot of the time though it varies by agency; some agencies don't have it enforced but strongly discourage dating by telling stars that they'll likely become less popular if they start dating (which is true). Though in general kpop is laxer about dating than they used to be.

Oh okay I see. I would say that only SNSD wasn't that much impacted but they are still the biggest girls band I think.

Anyway, undergoing plastic surgery just so that an idol that you like might find you attractive? How do you know that she'd find you handsome after the surgery anyway? And hey, I'd be a hypocrite to say that being handsome doesn't help, but for girls what really matters is body language - the kind that exudes confidence. And not everybody likes muscular guys. Don't work out for an idol, work out because that's who you are.

When you read that some crazy guys send tons of messages, presents to the idols and stab them because they didn't reply positively to them ... A minority is ready to do anything (sadly).
I agree that not everybody likes muscular guys. In my country though, there is a lot of hypocrisy, and it's even funny when some girls say "it's ugly" if you are in fact muscular rather than looking like a TV spot model. Those girls are usually not in a good shape so they prefer to criticize as it's easier than going to the gym. That's hwy I workout for ME not for someone else. If the girl like muscular guys, that's good, if she doesn't care, I have couple of charm points I think (funny, gentleman, ...).

You can be into a famous person and in touch with reality at the same time. Believe me, I've done it! :windy:

I'm actually right into that haha. But yeah, I know the girl (or even the girls haha) is an idol so I'm just fanboy-ing and buy some merch (photoshooks, ..). I read her blog posts, watch her group MVs and that's it, I'm not sending her 10000 messages per day or anything else.

My question is - since I don't follow these idols - that isn't the innocent/chaste image part of what they sell? Part of the idol culture? Isn't putting them on a pedestal not only encouraged but a requirement? So maybe a change in that might end the whole idol-culture as we know it or, if it's really that important, sales might even drop so much that it wouldn't be possible to go on for a lot of those idol groups?

The innocent/chaste image is part of what help them to sell merch. At least for AKB but Nogizaka 46, it's the same thing I think as it's an idol group too. I think that for AKB, they say the girls are "idols you can meet". You can do photo, handshakes, ... here is a virtual event (with my favourite) :

what "epic" rant about "hot air" (in my opinion)..well these (so called )"losers" are making a solid portion of the fanbase which apparently buys their stuff..as it is said the "customer is king" ..and i guess its the suprising "discovery of the century" that attractive female (especially in the showbiz) has therefore the attention of many admirers..but perhaps i missed something and <everbody< is here an alpha-male..(y´know "fit to be the BF of a famous person") and would make it throught the "top-selection"...

I couldn't agree more! Although you can take building muscle too far, but I don't think that most guys work out to look like a gorilla, so...

That virtual event doesn't show up for me. All I get is a black screen that says "Invalid method name: GET /video/x3dw4pm.

couple things: I don't see what guys looking like has anything to do with it lmao. I agree that some delusional fans exist and it's unhealthy, but the solution is not "well all jpop fans are stereotypical fat loser virgin otaku who need to become attractive" (I know some young, fairly good looking fans, and girls as well). It also assumes that the reason everyone likes jpop is to imagine a surrogate girlfriend, there are plenty of people who are fans who are married w/kids or are in relationships. To be sure there's a subset of the fandom who take it too far and get hostile/aggressive when girls turn out to date but that's not all or even most fans by any means (if it was no girl who was previously in a scandal would be popular, and that's patently untrue, as 2 of the top 5 48G members have had past scandals- Sashihara Rino and Kashiwagi Yuki).

That being said I think the answer is somewhere in the middle; while I personally don't care if idols/av idols date or not, it is a reality that it is in some of their contracts, and if not has been made expressly clear to them that they are expected not to date, for reasons that benefit them career-wise as well as benefits the agency. I think another angle that you guys haven't considered in all this is that for some fans, it's not a question of them dating but them breaking the rules; part of the idol "fantasy" is that the girl is trying her hardest to live out her dreams and you're supporting her, so to find out that she's lying to her fans (some of which spend waaaaaaaay too much money supporting their careers) and in some sense to break the fantasy- not just of being single/available but also that she's trying her best- feels like a real breach of trust, which I can understand. There's certainly a subset of fans who have this "I don't care if they date, but I DO care if they break rules" mentality.

Also, @ding "One day they will wake up and see that many AKB "graduate" into AV, soapland and delivery health. There is nothing wholesome (a key branding value for AKB) about them!" is definitely an overstatement. While it's true some have turned to av and compensated dating exists, you forget that literally thousands of girls have been part of AKB48 Group by now, so when it's around to or less than a dozen, that doesn't constitute "many" at all.

Sorry to jump back in time but regarding Shoko's dating video, I found it last year and can upload it. If someone could recommend a site I can easily upload it to I'll share it. (It's only interesting as "evidence", the quality is really bad)

Regarding idols and dating, in Japanese it's called 恋愛禁止, renai kinshi, "love ban". Several AKB48 girls were fired over the years over it, one going into AV in 2014. The AKB member Yonezawa Rumi was found on twitter with pictures of her boyfriend. Her terrible solo AV was under the name Shirota Rika. (An interesting twist was that she was fired at the same time as Hirajima Natsumi for the same "crime", but Natsumi went on to a gravure career instead, and has since been welcomed back as a retired member of the family)

Smaller pop idol groups fire idols caught dating all the time, for example the group Houkago Princess has fired 2 or 3 idols after the photos were found on twitter. Really dumb girls/boyfriends uploading selfies.

I don't know much about the gravure world so don't know if they have the same "ban", I'd like to hear about that side of things.

June 20, 2017: Devine milk, pretty bum! HD Great Pressure Video Anatomy Rion!

Finally Rion is preforming in the series エグい程の肉感AV (vid code SNIS-963), this is a brandname series for S1. [Rest of blurb skipped, mostly saying it's close up all sex vid]

Now you may notice the mosaic is pretty thick. This is because the recent "forced to perform" scandal is making everyone in the industry pretty skittish. […]

So, all-sex vids might be the best [or only?] suitable theme for Rion, but fans might eventually get enough of an all meat diet.

According to the DMM sales ranking for the half year, Rion only got one vid (a best-of collection) in the top 20. In the cumulative ranking [by performer, I guess], Rion was in a dismal 33rd position. Let's not even bring up the fantastic beasts Shokotash and Yuami; let's see some of the other contract girls who managed to outrank Rion: Chinami Ito 伊東ちなみ, Mana Sakura紗倉まな and Airi Suzumura 鈴村あいり.

Hope the studio is taking note and try something new with her.

Recently the mosaic has gotten so thick on SOD's production.
I think it's time AV fans took a stance against this form of censorship.

I skipped SNIS-895, SNIS-824, SNIS-811, and I might not be the only one lol. I dislike those themes, so it's not related to Rion herself. I gave up on Airi Suzumura (same problem with Ayami Shunka, always gang bang movies with ugly dudes, emotionless) last year and I found Chinami Ito around the same time. Chinami has solid releases.

ball7: studios hate the mosaic more than you can believe. They hate it more than fans do. If fans want to take a 'stance' against it, they shouldn't complain to the studios--they already know. Rather, complain to the government.

Just to elaborate on that… I'm guessing the studios hate it because of the added costs of applying the mosaic and the legal consequences should they fail to apply the mosaics correctly (even if legal action isn't taken against them, having to recall stock is expensive).

Yes, the government are the people who hold the power to change things. But I have to wonder what it would take for that to happen. It seems extremely unlikely that a politician would put forward a bill to allow uncensored works of their own accord, and I somehow can't see people taking it to the streets to protest against the current legislation.

Perhaps the best that can be hoped for is for the enforcement of the law to be reduced. Perhaps the authorities could first stop cracking down on companies hosting uncensored works abroad (e.g. Dreamroom Productions and FC2). That said, I'm not sure what sort of impetus the authorities would have for doing so, as the situation seems to have gotten worse recently. Still, if enforcement were gradually reduced and eventually halted, that would provide an excuse to remove that legislation altogether. But getting to that point would be extremely difficult (if it's even possible).

jwlim80: I was staring at that thinking there was like hidden mosaic, but then I saw it. Very, very neat though I'm sure it'll ruffle the jimmies of some shiofuki purists.
And in other news: 99% of the time (in censored titles at least) if nakadashi happens, but if the title promotion doesn't make a big deal of it, it's almost certainly faked.

Can't say I'm surprised by this revelation. It's just more efficient than getting the actress to drink lots of water hours before filming and have a trained actor on set to rub her the right way. There's also the heath issue to be concern about since shiofuki is no different from urination.

One of the most annoying things is when they dedicate a whole movie to squirting - see the one An Tsujimoto did for Team Zero.
Please, if you a huge squirting can you tell us why you like it so much?
