So far I've had luck with MeguIVit 480p 60fps Detail +2 as my go-to encode setting, but I'm having trouble with some videos with a "halo-effect". I've read some posts in this thread by Vitreous how edgeclean can help, but the encodes are failing. I tried encoding a second time to get the specific error, but I didn't get a dialogue box this time. The audio and video went through the encoding process, but there was a process that failed to start.

If you go in the queue tab, you can see all the steps and if one failed or not.

I just started an encode with your preset and edgeclean checked to test and it's at the step where edgeclean is applied(that would be the first video step) and it hasn't failed or made any error so far. I'll let it run to see how it goes, but it looks fine so far and if you say the video step completed, edgeclean shouldn't affect any other step so that's odd.

Maybe there's other settings you're using or not using that are affecting it, details on everything you changed from default or screenshots of the settings tab would be helpful in trying to replicate the problem.

Edit: I may have spoken too soon, looks like the extra processing from edgeclean makes mencoder crash after a few minutes every time on my test computer meaning you likely can't use the default Threading options, you'd either have to increase the cache memory(which can be tricky, I'm pretty sure vitreous talked about it somewhere in here) and/or reduce the amount of threads.

Also, when you get an encode that crashes, it's a good idea to clear the queue first before starting a new encode since it will likely try to resume the previous one when you launch the new one and skip the step that failed. Deleting the sandbox folder also achieve the same thing.

You can also right click the failed step in the queue tab, change it's status to waited and retry it if you want to keep the exact same settings, but retry it for some reason(there's a good chance it will fail again though since nothing changed, depending on the problem).

Trying to do some things with Avidemux. What filter should I use from this list to get high quality deinterlacing like MeguIVit does?

None of them. Meguivit uses qtgmc which is the quick version of tgmc with a few other stuff around it and nothing native to avidemux comes close to it in term of quality.

You'd have to use an avisynth script with qtgmc and load that in avidemux.

Okay thank you SamKook, I've been googling and it seems really complicated to do because of obscure dependencies and whatnot. Also the information I found might be outdated, so I'd appreciate any help doing that.

First, download one of the avisynth 2.6.1 version there(the difference are the dependencies since they're testing switching to new compilers): https://sourceforge.net/projects/av..._Alpha_Releases/AVS 2.6.1 Alpha 1 [20160517]/

As for the dependencies, read the text below the download, it will explain all of them.

Then install the qtgmc plugin from here(there's a version 3.33 later in the thread that wasn't officially released kind of, doesn't change much): http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156028

Last thing left to do is to create a .avs file that loads your video and audio source and apply the qtgmc filter and load that with avidemux(assuming you still have other stuff to do with the video, if not you can use any other encoder you want) instead of your video. The avisynth wiki and the qtgmc readme are your friends here.

Edit: Actually, you might need to load the script with avsproxy to load it in avidemux. It's not something I've done often so I don't quite remember but googling how to open an avisynth script with avidemux will tell you how.

Quick question, is everyone here using v1.0.0 beta-4 since v1.0.1.1 is not available? I googled v1.0.1.1 but all links that come up seem to be imposters.

Yeah, beta 4 is the way to go, it is much faster. And also, if you don't replace the sandbox folder and simply launch the exe, you'll be using v1.0.1.1 since Vitreous didn't repackage the thing.

Both of these were made for windows XP so if you have a more recent version, you will run into troubles. It does work fine on win7 if it's not up-to-date and if you manually copy some dlls in the right places.

Alternatively, you can use the version I repackaged with a more recent version of the packaging software which has been posted here: https://www.akiba-online.com/thread...d-encoder-v1-0-1-1.73866/page-51#post-3167139
That one works with all versions of windows as far as I know. Read the posts after that one if you run into issues before asking if you use it.

SamKook,
When using MKV as source, mkvinfo.exe crashes and it does not process audio or chapters in the source. I can't update the exe in your version because it seems to extract built in files on the fly as its run which doesnt allow updating individual components. Any chance of an update with current components? Or anyone know of a workaround?

I haven't tested it fully, but the old workaround should still work(might need to start with a fresh sandbox folder for it to work) from what I'm seeing on one of the test pc I used back then.

Open MeguIVit, go to Options-> Settings, click the External Program Settings tab, click the ... button next to neroAacEnc, erase neroAacEnc.exe and select Any executable on the right, navigate to C:\meguIV which is a virtual folder that's not actually on your hard drive and go to the file(s) you want to update which is located to C:\meguIV\MeGUI\tools\mkvmerge in your case. Then drag and drop copy-paste the new ones in there and hit cancel when you're done. Can be finicky but should work.

I'll try to test it and also make an updated version soon, but not sure when that'll be.

BTW, I don't know if the meguivit mod can handle mkv as a source, there might be information it can't get from the container since I don't know if vitreous made it able to handle those.

Edit: Both method of updating files still work, but the path in the sandbox folder changed a bit. It's this now(using x264 as an example):
Code:
Sandbox\MeguIVit\1.0.0.0\roaming\modified\@SYSDRIVE@\meguIV\MeGUI\tools\x264

Edit2: If you're using the sandbox file update method, you'll need to either create the path manually the first time(@SYSDRIVE@ is the same as C: in the dialog box so use those path from there) before copying the file or you can trigger the modified flag for the file you want to replace by renaming it in the dialog box(I'd also rename it back to the original name once that's done to make sure you don't forget it, the modified flag will stay even if it's back to its original name). Just make sure the file you replace it with has the original name from the dialog box in case the newer version is different.

First time user, tried the one-click mode.

"Process exits with error code: -1073741819"

Log file here: https://u.nya.is/xlsdtz.log

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Is this another antivirus issue like above?

That error code seem to be associated with access violation in windows meaning something prevented the proper execution of something(x264 in this case). Could be the antivirus blocking the proper execution of one of the software inside, could be a RAM issue or could be something else, it's a very broad error.

I'd try it a second time first to make sure it wasn't a fluke(clear everything in the queue tab first or it'll try to redo what failed before or skip it and it will probably be missing stuff to do it properly), then I'd try adding it to your antivirus exclusion list if you can and if that doesn't fix it, you could run a RAM diagnostic(I usually use Memtest86+, just burn to a CD or install on a usb stick and boot your computer from it).

It's a newer issue but I've been having problems with audio timing with recent rips. I deleted the meguivit folder and extracted from SamKook's repacked version from 2015. Still having an issue where the audio is synced about 1 second off. Anyone here have that problem before. I've tried multiple encodes with various quality but haven't figured it out.

Are you only having this problem with 1 source or multiple ones? I've seen a few DVDs where the audio delay wasn't 0 and I don't know if meguivit takes that into consideration so might need to fix the audio delay manually in the avs file.

A couple sources but they've been from the same company. Is there a tool to check how much the delay is? I saw a way to adjust delay in meguivit but I'll have to see how it works. Most of the features break during encode unless I use somewhat basic settings.

You can see the delay in the extracted audio filename, for example "BBAN-097 T80 2_0ch 192Kbps DELAY 0ms.ac3". The 0ms will be some other number(positive or negative) if there's a delay.

i finally downloaded the torrent that contained the original MeguIVit files that includes an .rtf file i think has the original pics. as .rtf is not a recognized file type for posting on aol i have made thumbnails of the .rtf file. here are the thumbnails:

View attachment 238814
View attachment 238815

the torrent file and other files contained in the torrent, as well as my thumbnails, are enclosed in a .rar file called the MeguIVit 1.0.0.0 Beta-4.rar and there is no pw. the files i obtained from the torrent are:

meguIV.zip
meguIVit_1.0.0_beta4.zip
ExtraDlls.zip
INSTALL.txt
TUTORIAL.rtf

here's a subyshare link to the above:

I'm having problems getting MeguIVit to run in Windows 10. I've downloaded the latest version (that you've linked to just above here) and whenever I try to run it, it gives me a permissions error. "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Then, weirdly, the program disappears from the folder.

I've done some troubleshooting on various sites on ways to fix this, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
