Too many AVs

I remember the feeling back in the day of being like a kid in a candy shop. I would fill my download manager with a huge list of titles and then wake up in the morning with like 5GB worth of stuff (before HD content was out there), and that was almost on a nightly basis. I remember at least twice getting down to like 1MB of free space on my PC. Then I bought external HDDs. I still have those laying around, but I've long since learned to be more selective, found my favorite AV stars to follow, and just realized that I didn't need every single one. So, I started deleting. That can break your heart...

I like to download HD and then make my own SD files to improve quality and free space. Aside from watermarks, I find a lot of the SD files being shared are not efficiently encoded. But of course this method won't help much if you download every single JAV in existence...

I think I have downloaded only 120-150 JAVs in my entire life. Currently I only have 78 censored JAVs, taking up 125 GB (plus some 6000kbps HD versions backed up on external drives). I watch 1-2 times per week, so it would take me a year to watch them all even if I never rewatch. And that's not even considering the fact that JAVs each have multiple scenes, multiple actresses, and some JAVs are so long they have to be split into multiple parts (I have 78 JAVs but 84 files). So even my meager collection seems like enough for me. There isn't a lot else I want but maybe I am just very picky or I don't watch often enough.

I think its because of how the market is in Japan. Japan still uses primarily DVDs and they have a AV rental service so the idea of memory constraint isn't really much of a concern like for us.

It's true that external hard drives are so cheap these days, it difficult to justify the time investment needed to burn DVD/Blue Rays.
With Four Terabyte externals under $100 USD, it's crazy to burn. (JMHO)

Yeah I have the same feeling. Thanks to this site I've come across new genres I never knew I would like and new favourite JAV Stars. I have a few external HDD's with JAV's on, some which I've never got around to watching yet. Usually if I'm running low i'll find something else I don't really like land get rid of it to free up space.

I do wonder however how big the prom industry is in Japan. Japan is by no means a small country I terms of size and population but the quantity and variety of seemingly daily AV release still seems enormous.

Also coming from rather conservative western country I am (happily) surprised Japanese parents seem to allow their beloved daughters to pursue such AV careers. Many times I have watched and wondered what their mums and dads must think of their scenes.

I'm not so sure about the parents knowing what's going on. Sometimes titles get pulled because a family finds out.

today young generation are more open to AV as normal career, but not all the parantes allow their daughter to be AV actress, like Casshern said some videos has been cancelled & pulled out from the market becaused their family finds out

Keep the good ones. Try streaming the titles by searching their codes first.

A lot of people don't know this, but Japan's porn industry is 2x bigger than America's. By that I mean they put out 2x more porn and Japan doesn't even have half the population that the U.S. does. Also, I read somewhere that Japan made $7 billion from the porn industry last year, which is absolutely mind boggling. It's probably because all of Asia watches Japanese porn since there's no porn industry in other Asian countries and since there's so many people in Asia, there's definitely plenty of people buying JAV to support the industry. Apparently 6000 girls debut in JAV every year, and I read somewhere that 1 out of every 200 girls in Japan has done porn.

I think it has something to do with the fact that Asian culture is so fixated on repressing sexual desires, especially in Japan since the population's been declining for the last three decades. It's also a known fact that most Japanese women don't really find Japanese guys attractive in terms of personality and looks, especially since they never give girls attention there compared to other countries. That's probably the main reason why so many Japanese women turn to porn. Plus, as a woman in Japan you gotta dedicate your life to taking care of the house and the kids if they ever get married. So they probably decide that they'd rather throw all that out the window instead of forcing themselves to live an "average" lifestyle with men that aren't too appealing to them. The end result is women who decide they'll just make money doing porn. It provides a safe medium for sex, while being able to support themselves without doing much work. But most of them don't end up doing more than a few scenes because they realize it's not what they really want to do or they just give up because of the toll it puts on their mental / physical state. If it's hard for them to live and if they never let out their sexual desires, it's not surprising so many women in Japan turn to porn. I mean some people say Asian women in general are actually freakier and more open than western women, but it can't be the reason why 6000 girls debut in JAV every year. It's hard to make a living in Japan too so the stuff I just explained probably contributes to why they get into porn, which is kind of irrelevant to how big the porn industry is. I just felt like sharing my thoughts on that.

Dont you feel like downloading movies are think from the past? With Todays internet speed you can just stream the content as required...

It depends. There are people that hold on to old files or physical discs because you can't find them anymore unless the studios decides to rehash/recompile/remaster old contents with a few cuts here and there.

Also, you have to admit, streaming loses its luster when your favorite title(s) gets pulled. No more streaming available for my requirement!

EDIT them!! If you wanna keep them...you gonna have to edit them, slice off the fluff parts like the speaking parts....

But you know......There is such a thing as 'too much of anything is bad'

you get into JAV too much, you gonna miss out on the real thing...

or if you're lucky you find a girl who is into porn.....one of my ex's liked jav and we'd visit the local vid store and enter the adult section together..totally freaked out the other customers.....was freaky in bed too.....thank gawd I didn't marry her.....found out she just wanted a sugar daddy American husband

It's not the main reason..yes it's a reason and some girls do it out of boredom. Other reasons such as forced into it, tricked into it are also true.

but the risk of being unmasked in AV is too high...you lose everything if you get revealed...no legit business will hire you or keep you employed..no legit man will marry you or stay married to you...

The biggest reason ECONOMICS.... ....women in Japan make far less than their male counterparts even if the women are more qualified than the men and the glass ceiling is much lower in Japan. My crazy ex wanted to be a hostess cuz her job at a major car supplier didn't pay well even though her English skills were way better than the men she was working for. On the other hand..knew another girl who turned to fuzoku so she could earn money to study abroad...but didnt turn out well..she got pregnant..luckily the man married her......older man

Why is the JK business booming..why is there enjo kosai, why is there so much fuzoku, why are there so many girls in AV....materialism + low wages = sex for money!! ok not everything is materialism...rent and food is terribly expensive in Japan.

sure you can get a part time job for 800 yen an hour..sure you can work full-time at a company with a starting salary of 100,000 to 150,000 a month and get a 5000 yen raise per year, sure after getting married you can get a part-time job to help support the family that pays 150,000 a month but work 40 hours a week with no yearly bonuses.

Fuzoku/AV pays way more.....

but unfortunately many of the people still don't have super fast internet yet, believe it or not in some countries plenty people still buying physical media

so downloading is still my main focus, so when its been deleted & banned all over internet, I have it in my collection
