Really? ハーフモデル means half blood? Or just ハーフ is half blood? So モデル doesn't imply she is a model or even any public media employee?

Japanese is so confusing.

If someone is described as ハーフ, it usually means he/she is mixed blood.

After acme and ikki, another katakana that defies translation and search: ヤリ, yari. Machine translation and search both gives "spear" but I doubt very much it's a meaty spear piercing a woman's body. Mainly from the context of where I found it, DVD titles that often has woman or women fucking a man rather than being fucked.

E.g. SNIS-634 ギャル痴女集団リーダー明日花キララのヤリ部屋つれ込みガン上がりSEX

ヤリ部屋 = "yari room" sounds (and looks) like a private room Kirara Asuka and her slut gang (痴女集団) use for shacking guys.

ヤリ means "to do" but in this context it means to have sex.

Yari is the stem of the common verb "yaru" which has a crap ton of different meanings, you can pretty much use it for everything. If you can think of it, it's probably applicable in some way.
Some of the common meanings are:

-To do
-To give something to someone
-To have sex
-To kill someone

In this case, yari is the continuative form, which means it's followed by something.
In your first example, it turns into the noun yaribeya: to have sex + room = literally "sex room" as you surmised.

In your second example, yaritagari is the same form again, but two times. Tagaru is a suffix you can attach to verbs which means "want to do something."
First you have yaru -> yari, and then tagaru -> tagari with the ko (=woman) added to it. Compound verbs like this are very common in the language.
In this one, the yari doesn't mean "to have sex." It's used to turn yuuwaku into a verb, so it means "to do."

To put it together, you get:

Or localize it to something natural, such as "My girlfriend's sister's trying to seduce me!" (still sounds like a JAV title) or "Girlfriend's Sister's Temptation" (more in line with western porn titles).

You're already using an online translator, the next stop would be to look up things in an online dictionary. And if you're really interested and feel motivated, learn basic Japanese grammar such as verb conjugation and sentence structure.
That way you can understand how an expression such as ヤリたがり娘 comes to be because you understand the way it is conjugated.

You can't definitively say that katakana writing equals foreign word, sometimes it's used to emphasize something as well. Or the writer is just trying to be cute and doesn't follow any logical rules at all. Madness, isn't it?

Madness indeed! I watched a ton of dubbed anime since childhood and spent my days wanting (and sometimes playing) Japanese toys and models. Language was a huge barrier. At some later point, but before the Web, I got a Japanese-English dictionary which proved nearly useless, because of all the conjugation and variants you mentioned. Now with so many online tools and community (e.g. all the good fellas here in AO!) it's pretty enough for my daily "needs", understand the instruction and decipher product announcement of models (gunpla) and other import products, understand/guestimate the content from product's name or short description. But for anime I can only rely on the otaku community to provide translation, for games, basically I gave up, it's a shame... but also a blessing as I don't want to waste my life away on MAG (manga, anime, games). I get a kick out of hearing loanwords in anime (mecha and scifi is stuffed-full of Chinese and English loanwords). I knew about katakana used for cute effect because I was used to seeing English-derived katakana mecha names (ヴィクトリーガンダム Victory Gundam) being playfully converted/invented into kanji names for comedic SD Gundam.

For JAV, I stop at the JAV titles and the easily available bits of textual info (e.g. genres). I also have a real fear that learning Japanese formally won't help with understanding common spoken words, especially the low blow stuffs such as JAV and manga.

Right now I make it a small hobby to translate the titles of JAVs I collect. With my knowledge of Chinese (for kanji), Google translate, and a little bit of motivation it's usually enough to satisfy myself that all the meaningful parts of the title is captured. Often I want to understand the evolution of the word as how "sex" became 変態 (hentai), became "H", become エッチ (ecchi) which is entirely different from how other cultures use/invent/twist words, playwords and euphemisms for sex/fuck or anything else.

Indeed I adopt your approach of keeping a title translation close to the "funny super long" (and I add) sometimes-coy yet always-overly-literal Japanese original. I think the popular phrase is "word salad". I daresay I'm getting good at it, only a few words were annoyingly beyond my grasp, but after solving the mysteries of アクメ , イキッand now ヤリ, I think I'm pretty satisfied with myself!

Oh... just one last question "yaru" is native (non-loan) Japanese verb right? So that makes the choice of ヤリ over やる a case of "emphasis of something off or naughty"?

Here is a question that's more cultural than linguistic:

But psychiatrist making out-call to mental patient in his home? Sounds odd. Watch the vid: the doctor visit the patient's home, pull out a writing pad and interview the patient. But the interview doesn't last that long before the doc take the patient to his bed and start deep kissing him and licking his nipples (cloths came off quite readily)...

glad i found this thread. as a sometimes-corrector of English that has been poorly translated from Japanese to English, I can tell you the task is gargantuan. Japanese think and communicate very differently from Indo-European languages. If you tried to do a straight machine-like translation of Japanese to English, you'd end up not only with lots of incorrect words, but one long, extra-long, super-long, run-on sentence. Extremely aggravating and makes you want to just put it down and forget about it.

In English we don't think the same way as far as describing thoughts in the context of our written language. I think that is why it is SO VERY DIFFICULT for the overwhelming majority of Japanese, most of whom have nearly 11 years of English in their schooling, to grasp English.

And vice-versa. It is equally tough for native English speakers to get a feel for the Japanese way of constructing language.

It kind of mystifies me that native Chinese and Korean speakers have much greater facility making the transition from their native tongue to English. I see and hear it all the time where I live.

By the way, WTF does "planning" (企画 = kikaku) -- another example of an inscrutable machine translation; it shows up as a genre on many videos -- purport to mean? I see it all the time and still don't get the idea.

企 画 = planning: titles that generally have a certain theme to them rather than regular sex are often described as a 'planning' title.

By chance I come across several titles with an untranslatable "ド" at the same time. Usually with very short words/phrases that fail to translate with my mediocre skills, I just give up. But 3 titles within a few minutes, I can't overcome my curiosity. What's the "ド" doing there? Is it mostly empty (like an article) ?

Quite unrelated, but I've usually translated オナニー as masturbation, instead of onanie. But just today I came across an explanation the background of onanie is actually the Biblical story of Onan (Genesis 38), who was ordered to fuck his widowed sister-in-law but he pulled out before making a creampie, which displeased the God and got himself killed. Not exactly masturbation, but very curious that Japanese adopted this story to name masturbation. Anyway the point is that if オナニー has a Western root, than is it more appropriate/precise to translate オナニー as onanie than as masturbation? Of course there's no absolute answer, but interested to hear opinions.

Finally... while we are on single kana, what about single letters like "W" and "M" (and others?). AFAIK, "W" is slutty or nympho, "M" is Masochist or (sometimes) S&M, correct?
