DHT Only?

I'm trying to download some torrents from this site and am currently unable to due to the trackers having no seeds. From what I've gathered, most people have success with DHT. My issue is in order to help seed, I use a seedbox for that purpose but mine doesn't allow DHT. I was wondering if there were any trackers that we still actively use on this site or if DHT is the only way to downlaod torrents. Thank you.

It's on a per torrent basis, there is no specific tracker used by this site anymore.

If the person creating the torrent adds trackers, then those will be used by everyone. Adding trackers manually afterwards in your client doesn't help in the slightest unless other people do the same thing on the same torrent. I never understood why people actually do that.

If it has trackers, then you will be able to seed no problem with your seedbox. People don't need to choose between DHT or trackers, DHT is simply an extra way of connecting to other people.
And if you don't have the file yet, then if someones downloads it via DHT, he will show up on the trackers as a seeder(and as a leecher before) if he doesn't close it and you'll be able to download it.

Basically, if the torrent isn't dead and already has trackers in it, you're fine.

It is almost always a good idea to add active trackers to a torrent, whether or not they have seeds in them. I have a lot of success with that myself. It is not unusual for trackers to go down or become obsolete but this does not make a torrent "dated" or dead, even if you cannot use DHT (which is too bad, next time look for a better seedbox). The best way to help reboot and keep a torrent alive is to add active trackers. I would also suggest you use udp instead of http as udp (like DHT) uses less bandwidth and therefore is a lot easier on ISPs' (and less likely to get throttled). Torrent sites often update their magnet links with active trackers after old trackers have bit the dust but an old torrent will still have the original trackers, this is one reason that adding active trackers works.

All a tracker does is keep track of the people connected to it. Unless another person added the same in their local copy, they won't be able to see you.

If all the trackers die, it would be much more efficient to create a new one with different trackers than adding some to the old one since not everybody will have the same trackers which means that some people won't see each others.
As long as there's one tracker working, then you're better off simply using that one since you'll be guaranteed every one will see each other. That way, you don't have people unable to finish the download because they haven't added the same tracker as you.

The only reason adding more tracker work is that many people do it for some odd reason, but it's a pretty bad practice in term of efficiency.

If the torrents propagated the trackers to everyone though, then it would be a great idea to do this, but sadly they don't.

Well, I understand your reasoning yet like I said, even TPB and Kickass update there magnet links with current trackers. Also I often add trackers from sites that likely have the same torrent, like the nyaa tracker (I download a lot of anime). However if I downloaded a torrent from elsewhere and shared it here, it will only have the original trackers on it. So if those trackers die, then either you can go to the original site, if you know it, and add the new trackers from the magnet link or just take a guess and add trackers that you know are current and healthy. I admit, add trackers doesn't always add seeders but often it does. It works for me and that is about all I can honestly add to this subject.
