TOKYO —

Japan will nationalize a group of islands at the center of a territorial row with China...

The decision to purchase the islands, which will be formally owned by Japan’s Coast Guard, was aimed at their “quiet and stable maintenance”.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao however insisted the islands were “an inherent part of China’s territory.”

“On issues concerning sovereignty and territory, the Chinese government and people will never ever yield an inch,”

China has previously reacted with muted irritation since reports emerged that the Japanese government was going to buy the chain from their private landowners.

In Beijing, the foreign ministry reiterated China’s claims over the islands, which lie around 200 kilometers from Taiwan, and 2,000 kilometers from Tokyo.

China’s Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi lodged a “strong protest” with the Japanese ambassador, calling the purchase “illegal” and “invalid”.

“This in no way will change the historic fact of Japan’s usurpation of China’s territory, nor will it shake in the least China’s territorial sovereignty over the Diaoyu Island and adjacent islands,” a statement posted on the foreign ministry website quoted Yang as saying.

“The Chinese government and people will never allow our territory or sovereignty to be violated or damaged and will resolutely safeguard sovereignty over the Diaoyu Island and adjacent island.”

“The Chinese side strongly urges the Japanese side to rescind the mistaken decision of ‘purchasing the island,’” he added.

These islands are neither Japanese nor Chinese. They are part of Dutch Formosa and as such a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Soon we will invade Belgium, Luxembourg and Nord-Pas-de-Calais and reunite them with our fatherland to make the Kingdom of the Netherlands whole again.

With the EU about to disintegrate, it would be wise for Holland to once again assert itself. At least locally... such as you suggest.

But reclaiming Formosa and the Dutch East Indies, on the other hand, in the middle of this row between Red China and Japan?

Friend, you better lay off that Amsterdam war pipe:joker:

I wrote something for this thread last night. But I ended up with giving it up and turned the page off. Why, it is since most of people think Taiwan is part of China. So, I thought anyone here would see me as an alien freak talking about something else.

I believe someone said Formosa means Taiwan. And let me address this clearly: Taiwan is an independent country. I have no right to make you read the history, and have no rights to make you travel Taiwan and China in one trip. The fact is, the whole world is trying to deny this fact, you guys would consider me as one of Chinese. ShXt no!

Let me sum up what I wrote last night, and applying the "fat kid" saying from above. From my view, it is just like two fat kids robbing a poor kid's lunch. And we can't even talk about that SINCE the whole world trying hard to ignore us.

For your information, Japan's got 6000 and more isles. That domain includes 1/5 pacific. And I wonder very much that why doesn't Big Brother behind give Hawaii to Japan, that is very Japan alike island(any of you toured there would know what I am saying).

(again, the world is trying to ignore us. and I as an individual would like to stay out of craps, if i type something improper here, any of your admins can delete my paragraph, no harm feeling)

Meanwhile, the islands' true & rightful owner, Club Med, has moved its entire fleet of warships (pictured) to DefCon-4 status and is preparing to sail for the East China Sea where, upon arriving in 417 days (estimated), it will "defend its sovereign rights to the archipelago against all antagonists".

I don't know whether this reply is related to my post; trust me, I know the history of the region very well and can even read original sources. Just don't try taking a ironic remark for a serious comment ... ;-)

as far as I know, the islands served as some Chinese but the Japanese were acquired . But perhaps the Chinese military to amplify the power to cause discord with Japan
