    Hm I can't answer your question directly but I advise you to use a video analysis program to get more information about the video/audio codec of the video/movie. Your best choice might be G-spot cause it has a rendering option so that you can see at which stage the render process failes for example missing audio codec, uncomplete file etc.
    I also would use mediainfo another program to get useful infos about media files. You can integrate it in your explorer so that you can immediately use it when you need it. Mediainfo is a must have in my opinion. By the way it is open source but I don't know if i can post the link for download so you just have to google.
