Thanks for the files, pocs....but PEA-010 is corrupted too. It's missing a few big chunks of data at around 24:15.

DSS-02 is also missing chunks. The player has to scan (buffer) the whole file each time in order to play properly. But it gets worst later in the video...

Sorry, there should be 14 files. From part 10 to 14 were corrupted but now fixed.

Good thing I made it a habit to keep all the RARs until at least a few have downloaded and no complaints. Therefore, it is good that you inform me right away.

Well, there is when you use WinRAR. You can tell it to generate recovery files (.REV) but then it's not intended for use with a dozen or so part files. It would be a lot faster to re-download the whole thing. It was intended for those that have hundreds of big RARs. Repairing corrupt part files take a lot of CPU power and very long time but still faster than re-downloading hundreds of files. People who share huge HD movies usually provide these files just in case....

Hehe. I get that a lot in the frustrating 56K modem days. First and foremost for you is to get faster, stabler broadband lines that support faster upstream speed. That will definitely fix most of your current issues....but then modems have error correction and broadbands don't.




Just re-downloaded the whole of PEA-010...still has that problem. Don't play just the beginning. Jump to 24:15 and you'll see the stuttering...

I also re-downloaded the whole of DSS-02....still has that problem. Play the file and if you see "Buffering...", that means the file is corrupted and need to rescan in order to play. When it gets to the corrupt area, it will stutters and sometimes crashes the player. If your original video is like that, I have a good copy that was corrected with a video converter. Let me know if you're interested.



I use a program called Video Inspector to check if a media file is valid or not. Here's your PEA-010:



When it's invalid, I would then use a video converter to fix the problem. Some video converters can skip corrupt frames making final product unnoticeable to the human eye. However, in PEA-010, the video converters I use all aborts at 24:15, thus suggesting it's corrupted beyond repair.

That's the problem with downloading from P2P. People are impatient...they cut off the incomplete download and reshare as new. Most of my downloads are also incomplete but I always convert them before I share here.


PS. Video Inspector is not foolproof. It thinks your DSS-02 was valid but it wasn't...

I Just check the file in my computer, all file are ok to play
oh yea, the file is not valid using the video inspector to check and god....
when i am using media player with klite codec pack, it plays fine, never know that it is invalid...
I am glad to learn something new about file invalid.
For all my collection, i never check it, but i do notice that when using media player classic to play, whenever i fast forward it will lack for a while. and now i understand.

what program you used to watch movie and which codec pack you use?

That's good. Then it should be easily corrected just in case you upload something and it corrupts again. See below for using WinRAR + Recovery option.

I think K-Lite Codec Pack is enough for playing most common codecs. I use the built-in Media Player Classic as default player for all formats. I like it simple

As for the video converters, Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate and Any DVD Converter Pro in case Xilisoft crashes. Xilisoft is not very stable but if it works it does miracles. I always use the H.264 codec which is normally used for HD movies. I use that as default because the open source x264 does not work well on my mobile phone (Samsung Omnia II) but H.264 does. Xilisoft uses H.264 and Any DVD Converter uses x.264.

Before you start uploading, consider using WinRAR and create .REV files. Here's how:

1) Install WinRAR, highlight file to compress and click ADD:



2) Split files at 100 Mb each and enable the Recovery option

3) Once you have all the RAR files, click on the first part and click Command > Protect archive from damage:



4) And set the recovery files to...let's try 3:



5) Processing begins:



6) Finally, upload everything including all 3 of the recovery files (.REV)



To test if it's working, delete any one of the .RAR. Then click on the first .REV. It should ask if you wish to repair/recover. Click yes and...

This function is very amazing. The outcome is exactly the same as the original down to the MD5 hash.


PS. If the REV files are corrupted during uploading, then that defeats the purpose of Recovery.
