During my time in Japan, which was late '90s, I either got very lucky or I had a little more skill than others in working the system. The main problem will always be the guy at the door. In 15 years of visiting these places in Japan (I live here) I've only had about 5 girls who flat out refused to have anything to do with a foreigner. The door guys usually think it's too much trouble to deal with, so it's easier to just say no. Most girls have never had a foreigner before and are curious as to what they're like. They are also worried about communication, because unlike other countries, part of the sex service here is a conversation, so if you can't talk, that puts a lot of pressure on her. If you put in a good performance they will say that Japanese guys are very different. (They only really care about coming themselves, not whether she enjoys it or not.) Not to mention that a lot of guys here have never been anywhere near real women, so they paw them like they are digging for clams. There are places that have Western girls but I have never tried them. (I wonder what they would say...)
From my experience and research I just stuck to the pink salons which openly accept gaijins, didn't have any issues on my 4 visits with very little or no Japanese spoken. Some of the touts at the door are actively waving you in as you approach. I go back to Japan next week and look forward to visitng these places again.
I guess that's one way to do it, and it's the way I used to do it. But now I check their web page and see if they have any girls I like and then I go. Because from bitter experience I know that often the places that let foreigners in are that ones with girls that would need to pay us to fuck them, not the other way round....
