Agreed. I don't get enraged by this, but it's something I
almost always (literally!) pick up on and get annoyed about when I do my grocery shopping and walk down the aisles and see things like this. The most recent one was from just a few days ago: "All Natural Tyson chicken." Common sense informs us that it can't be natural (i.e. old-fashioned farm-raised) if it's made by an assembly line poultry company like Tyson. But it only takes an ounce of knowledge to take the argument to a whole new level: their douchebaggery for saying, "Oh no! It wasn't our claim that this was
all-natural Tyson chicken! It was our claim that this was
all-natural Tyson chicken! 'All-natural Tyson,' or ANT, is our copyrighted name for our fake-natural chickens to sucker in the Greenpeace PETA people!"

Dumbass reality shows taking over
|
I'm 50% of the way with you here. I hate
dumbass reality tv (note the solid underline) but I don't have a problem with reality tv itself. In other words, I don't think all reality TV is dumbass. For example,
this is reality TV from Japan but it's fucking amazing. Technically speaking,
this is also reality TV (even if it's only one clip that aired during a comedy hour). See? Reality TV can be hysterical. You just have to remove dumbass humans.
In fact, sometimes it's best to just remove humans period and watch Nature and the animals do cute, funny, cool, or even sometimes ferocious things. Like ... this?
This is reality TV: it's just reality TV insect-style. I know what some of you are thinking --
"Nature programming isn't reality TV! It's nature! They've been doing nature TV shows for half a century!" -- but to me, it's all the same. Humans in reality? Animals in reality? Trees in reality? Candid Camera is Candid Camera whether it's filming humans without their knowledge or kittens or gorillas.

Another thing that pisses me off and themed channel showing unrelated shows.
|
Yeah. This is just the Wal-Mart effect, though, as it applies to television. Eventually one or two stations will have hodgepodge programming and 25% of the viewers while the other stations, despite having their own hodgepodge programming, net only 75% of the viewers. (Consider how many stations there are. Yeah.) When that happens, the losers (so to speak) will revert to their original way of thinking -- "the only way for us to succeed is to find our niche and become better at it than anybody else!" So the Real History Channel will begin to challenge the History channel by showing much more actual historical TV programming. Or the Real Discovery channel will shows tons of scientific exploration programs (like Nova or Nature) while the original Discovery channel keeps doing reality TV like Man vs. Nature and Deadliest Catch. Give it 5-10 years. Same thing for MTV, btw. Eventually there will be a station that says "All music videos, all the time." And 24/7 it will just have music or else commercials in order to fund the station and pay for the music license fees. Just like radio stations do.

Infomercials piss me off.
|
You had me with these four words. :) No need to go further. They're all terrible. Commercial advertisements in general are terrible, but I agree that the infomercials are the worst: because they suck up 30, sometimes even 60 minutes of air time just to advertise one product over and over and over. And they do it not with 30 or 60 minutes of new footage, no! They do it by just repeating the same 5-minute ad over and over and over and over and over ... X_x
I don't like it? I don't ever do it myself? But it's not a big pet peeve of mine. Maybe it would be if I saw more landfills.

Codec snobbery also pisses me off.
|
YEEEEEEES! -_-; Thank you!
Computer tech-geek snobbery in general pisses me off. Let me give you a comparison and you tell me if it's fair, okay? :)
Sakun: Hey, my computer isn't working properly any more. Can you help me figure out what's wrong with it?
Tech Geek Jerk: Pfffffffffft! How stupid do you have to be to NOT know what the problem is? Ha ha ha ha ha! Let's laugh at him, everybody!
Sakun: Look, I'm a busy man, and I don't have time to learn everything. So--
Tech Geek Jerk: So what? You should have learned computer programming. Sucks to be you!
vs.
Tech Geek Jerk: Hey, my heart isn't working properly any more. Can you help me figure out what's wrong with it?
Sakun: Pfffffft! How stupid do you have to be to NOT know what the problem is? Ha ha ha ha ha! Let's laugh at him, everybody!
Tech Geek Jerk: Look, I'm a busy guy, Doc!

I've got a wife and kids! A mortgage on my home! I work two jobs! I don't have time to go to med school and become a doctor, let alone a cardiac specialist!
Sakun: So what? You should have become a cardiologist. Sucks to be you!
Every time people get shitty with me about computers, this is what I think about it. Every time. :\ It's like ... they are so vain, and so
stupid, to think that we should all spend time learning computer science and that those of us who don't are stupid and/or lazy and therefore do not deserve to be helped out. WTF. Who died and made you guys king? Fuck you:
- go be your own doctor
- go be your own lawyer
- go be your own cook
- go be your own carpenter
- go be your own police officer
Et cetera. Don't have the smarts to be a doctor? Don't have the balls to be a cop? Don't have the talent to make it as a chef? Then
STFU about your goddamn computer intellect and help me fix my computer! Jesus! X_X
