Yeah, I wanted them to leave Lust alone. But I guess she really doesn't have a very interesting ability compared with her siblings, so it makes sense that they rubbed her out of the series sooner instead of later. Gluttony's got the insatiable appetite which makes him more akin to a classic serial killer, Wrath's super-skilled at combat, Envy can impersonate anybody ... all Lust had was Lady Deathstrike's arms and the best boobs in the entire FMA universe. And she never even really put 'em to much of good use! :x She dated Havoc and that's about it. *sigh* Oh well. ^^;

If they ever made a live-action FMA, Catherine Zeta Jones would be the best actress to play Lust. I even wonder if that's who Lust's character design is modeled after. Hot damn, the hair, the face, the boobs ... if Catherine Zeta Jones did cosplay and if she were to cosplay as Lust, it would be the best cosplay ever.
Holy Shit! I finally got caught up on FMA, and you're right. Episode 19 is fucking amazing. It's probably the best episode out of both the original series and this new one (so far at least).
Ramblings and Spoilers:
Wow, the episode starts off great wondering if something is gonna happen to Riza. I would've been pissed if they killed her off too. Luckily Mustang shows up in the nick of time. Later on when they enter the Lab there's an awesome exchange between Mustang, Havoc, and Lust. I smiled during that whole bit where Mustang could see why Havok was fooled into talking to this gorgeous woman. And then we get a bit of bouncy breast fanservice. Good stuff.
Then everything just gets even more amazing after that. Like you mentioned before Sakun, the part where Lust is all torn up and looking Terminator-ish is freaky, but also extremely awesome. The whole encounter was really suspenseful, and the whole time I was wondering "How the fuck are they supposed to kill these things?" But somehow Mustang just burns her to death, all the while looking like a total badass. Man, I know I'm just summarizing the episode but god damn, I'm pumped. This is why I love action anime lol.
I totally agree with you about Lust though. It sucks that she was the second Homonculus they killed off (if you count Greed). She is easily the coolest one. And previously I thought Riza was the hottest chick in the show, but this episode pretty much cemented my new opinion that Lust is the hottest. Sucks cause I came to that realization just as she was about to die. Oh well.
Oh and then the ending of the episode is a total "dun dun DUN" moment, can't wait for the next episode.
Totally lovin' this series. Though I don't like the new OP & ED as much as the first set. They're still good, but I really love the first Opening, as stated previously.

Why is Mustang burning down so many bridges? Why did he drive away Hawkeye? Who the fuck is this Elizabeth chick he's having a second relationship with? Why did he kill Maria Ross? Why is he being so evil towards the brothers? What is he scheming by separating the two of them?
I was convinced when I reached the end of Episode 17 that Roy Mustang was to prove to be a hero-turned-villain, and that confused me and upset me. I was convinced that Armstrong was going to have a showdown with Mustang. I even thought that maybe Envy had replaced Mustang and the real Mustang was either dead or locked up in preparation for the sacrifice.
Imagine how glad I was when I got to Episode 18 and all of those fears and doubts were washed away. Was it a little bit cheesy? Yeah, I guess. But was it welcome? Absolutely. Episode 17 created way too many problems for the sake of excitement, so I was only too glad to have Episode 18 rub them all away.
And now? I can enjoy Episode 17 and Episode 18. I can have my action and my piece of mind.
You didn't have to wait a week. ;p You got to watch them as back-to-back as you saw fit. :)
I have no doubt that we're going to be screwed in the future, but at least you managed to evade being screwed for that one time. I'm happy for you. :) ^^;
I don't think Lust's personality is attractive, but good God is her body smoking hot. I can't imagine her having passionate sex with anybody except the one person she's displayed any sort of love towards -- Father -- and so the only hope I've got of reading a Lust doujin that scratches my itch would be a Lust x Father doujin where Father fucks her senseless.
After all, there's something fans of Lust's need to chew on when considering why she's named what she's named.
Superficially: "duh, she's called Lust, so she's gonna be the sexy hot character guys wanna bang."
Deeply: no, that's not it. I thought it was too, but take a closer look, fellas. Every other homonculus's name is a reflection of his own behavior, not of the behavior of humans towards him! Humans aren't gluttonous around Gluttony: he's the fat pig with the insatiable appetite. Humans aren't the ones who get greedy: it's Greed himself who's the one who says he wants to have it all. People don't get angry when they're with the Führer -- he's the one who gets angry (on occasion) and goes totally apeshit on people with his swordsmanship.
We haven't seen Pride yet, but ...
given who he is, I'm guessing he's very proud to be an Amestrian, he's proud of his father, etc. Just a guess.
And we haven't seen Sloth yet, either.
And as for Envy, we haven't seen much, but arguably we've seen enough to at least know that he fits the rule of thumb, too: by shapeshifting into other people's forms, it suggests that he is the one who is envious of them and not the other way around. (Nobody seems to envy Envy, not even amongst the homonculi. lol)
So putting this altogether, what does it spell? It spells that Lust isn't meant to be the one who men lust after -- she's meant to be the one who suffers from lust herself! In other words, if she is the living incarnation of Lust, then it means she's one seriously horny bitch.
We never saw anything which suggested this in FMA, but FMA is a children's manga and television series.

Yeah, luckily I did dodge a bullet there. Cause I started watching Episode 17 this morning, and well... couldn't just leave it hanging like that. So proceeded to watch 18 obviously, which resulted in another cliffhanger, so onto 19. Yeah I get the feeling we're going to see a lot more cliffhangers as the show goes on.
Side note, a quick look at danbooru tells me that there clearly isn't enough Lust fanart out there. At least not on danbooru anyway. I saved a couple of pictures ranging from decent to good. Not really any good porn though, aside from a couple of nude shots. Also I was a bit annoyed that some of the pictures showed off the other Homonculus which haven't been revealed yet, and I'm pretty sure there was a big spoiler in one of those pics, so not too happy about that. Oh well :\

In the new series, we've seen every single homonculus except for Pride. But we only have seen Sloth (once or twice, I forget the count) for a very brief moment. It shows a hulking man who resembles Fate Stay Night's Berserker deep underground mining away at something. Or so it seems to me. We know he's Sloth, 'cause they said as much in the show.
So the only spoiler you could get would be Pride, and Pride's not a very big spoiler.
Then again, I have heard from friends that the manga later goes on to do something rather stupid. (Click at your own risk.) I may also be remembering wrong, but because I hate spoilers myself, I am not even wanting to have this confirmed or denied, and request that others respect that, please. Let me remain semi-ignorant of whether this is patently true or false:
I seem to remember something along the lines of Edward being a homonculus. A, I don't see how that's even possible. For starters, where the fuck is his tattoo? And how come he permanently lost his limbs despite the fact that Homonculi regenerate? B, even if this is true, this is fucking retarded, and would be a great example -- if true -- of how shounen manga deteriorate into IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAND!!!!! madness the longer they go on. The author has to pull bigger and bigger plot twists out from his ass to keep the readers reading, and so he goes from the believable to the semi-believable to the just plain fucking stupid.
As for those Lust fanart samples ... sigh, yeah, I wouldn't personally bother to save any of those except for the 4th one (which I did save, just now, thanks), and none of 'em are masturbation-worthy. That fifth one is drawn well but it just doesn't look like Lust to me (facially), so much so I can't bring myself to save it. The other three ... 結構です。 -.-; ("I'm fine," as in "I think I'll pass.")
I didn't watch any last week, so I watched Episode 23 earlier tonight and I just finished Episode 24 moments ago (the credits are still playing as I type this, lol), and ...

Episode 25 should hopefully be amazing. It largely will depend on how much they drag out the cliffhanger and how much they do not.
Does anybody know how many episodes the FMA remake is slated for? If it's 39, then we'll wrap up pre-Christmas. If it's 52, then we're going to be affected by the two-week drought that occurs from approximately December 25 through approximately January 6. If it's unlisted, then hell, who knows how long this will go on for.
But so far, so good. And a hell of a lot better than the original series, that's for sure.
Yes, it is good. And it keeps getting better and better.... sort of. I think it peaked with the Lust episode we discussed a couple weeks ago, so far at least. I just really liked that episode. These ones are good too though, and I'm starting to like the new characters more than I was before.
Cliffhanger indeed.
Not sure how long the show will run for, I'm hoping 52 episodes. Drought or not, the more the better in my opinion.
You really seem down on the original series though. I have fond memories of it, even if I can't remember all of what happened.
I hated the automail-heavy aspect of the original series. I hated Alphonse's role in the second half of the original series. I hated the filler episodes and am so, so, soooooooooo glad that there hasn't even been one single filler yet! :D It's amazing: 24 episodes all to do with the main plot and its several subplots. I hated that one army guy who (towards the end of the series) becomes a berserker cyborg. I hated the entire city of Lior and am glad we haven't yet had to return to it (lol). I hated the way the original show handled geography (or lack thereof), whereas the new show does a bang-up job with constantly providing maps and reminding you just where Ishbal and other areas are relative to Central.
But I didn't hate the original series. It was an excellent show up until some vague region (I can't remember exactly) around the early 30s or so, and it was still a quite-good show right up through episode 49. Episodes 50 and 51 are the only episodes which really tanked the show for me.
26 was very good right up until the part where Ed explained his theory on how to escape Gluttony's stomach. To me, that was a bit too hand-wavey (and contradictory with some previously-established concepts about the Door[s] of Truth and where/how they open and lead out to).
So I went on Wikipedia to try and find out where Ed and the others turn up, to see if it'd make me happier or madder. (Madder.) And I inadvertently discovered a major spoiler. (#1 below.) And this then led me to inadvertently discover a second, even more major spoiler. (#2 below.) And this then led me to discover a lesser spoiler that you could probably read right now if you wanted to, but probably shouldn't if you're a real stickler about spoilers. (#3 below.)
Ling is force-offered the "opportunity" to become the new Greed, and he greedily accepts. Wtf. This pretty much ruins Ling for me. I wasn't his biggest fan to begin with, but now he goes from being a sorta-likeable side character to being a douchebag. He pretty much betrayed Edward and his girlfriend. What a tool.
Nooooooo! XD I guess we were gonna find it out in the very next episode or two anyway, but still! I found out who Father is, or rather, who he isn't! XD I had started to suspect that he was a red herring for Hohenheim, but I still had my doubts, i.e. I still wondered if maybe he actually was Hohenheim after all. Anyway, turns out he's not. Turns out he's some creepy spirit-homonculus entity created from the blood of a loser of a human being who, incidentally, was a slave in the ancient kingdom of Xerxes. This slave being our buddy Hohenheim. If I sound bitter, it's because I'm pissed to find out that Hohenheim is such a loser. They (on Wikipedia) explained that he's apathetic, lazy, etc, and that the manga even says that if he hadn't have been the specimen chosen by the Royal Alchemist of Xerxes to produce Homonculus/Father that he [Hohenheim] would have been happy to have gone to the grave having done nothing his entire life but idly sweep floors. Wtf. He's way, way, WAY less cooler then than the Hohenheim from the first anime was. :\ At least that Hohenheim was a bad-ass alchemist. This one sounds like he has the power to be a bad-ass alchemist but that he's a lamo human being. Sigh.
Apparently we've made fairly steady progress through the manga already. There are only 21 to 22 books out in Japan right now, and we're on the very final stretch of finishing off Book #13, which means we're over halfway through the printed material, which means that if this is going to be a 52-episode series, we're going to encounter some filler episodes in Season 2, some serious slowdown in the progression of the plot, or perhaps a little of both. Suck, but oh well.
Also? Roy Mustang still hasn't overthrown the Fuhrer by Book 21 or so. Wtf. What the hell is that man doing between now (Book 13) and then!?!?!?!?!? And what about my Riza Hawkeye? ;_;
Given Spoiler #1, here's a tantalizing consideration for another character. Keep in mind that I do not want this to happen to her, but it's just some food for thought. ;D
Since Father filled Greed's empty spot by infusing the Greed stone into Ling, perhaps he could turn Riza Hawkeye into the new Lust? Sure would make a whole lot of sense out of this sexy -- but old -- doujinshi of her! (See attachment.)
