Shoujo Tsubaki AKA Midori. Wonderful, hand-painted guro goodness. It seems a bit dated by today's production standards, but it's a classic nonetheless.

I also recall Angel Cop having some infamous scenes, but I don't think I ever even finished that one.

If you don't mind reading manga you have to read Tomie. It's required reading.


Although it doesn't happen until later in the Series, Space Runaway ideon is famous for (Spoilers for the ending, highlight to read) violently murdering the entire cast in the final movie. Even the women and the children.

Well, the most obvious choice if you want to see blood would be.....blood +, lol. But blood from weird monsters is kind of lackluster..

Anyways, for gore/violence, Elfen Lied's about as extreme as you'll get in anime.

The first season of higurashi's (the DVD releases at least) are up there also. But the second season was neutered and even changed in a couple of the more gruesome parts of the whole series.

Gantz pushes the ecchi, or "almost hentai boundary" in this case, more often then it does with any gore/blood. But is nowhere near the manga in terms of either violence or sexual stuff.

Berserk is old, but still one of the best animes there is and has a lot of blood, violence, etc., etc. Only problem is it is still the biggest cliffhanger in an anime ever and is nowhere near the manga in any way whatsoever.


Have crap loads of movies also. But nothing jumps out to much. Crap like monsters chewing up and eating piles of people like in Karas, anti nuke propoganda with melting flesh like Barefoot Gen, or just plain old weird more then gory like Akira, along with many other types are just are kind of lackluster and usually much tamer.

If you want hentai ones, Ali Maniax, Blood Shadow, and Urotsukidoji (The legend of the overfiend one for most of the girls being killed/exploding after they're tentacle raped)etc., etc.

Can go on and on remembering different ones for different categories, I'll stop there.

Great suggestions, I'm downloading quite a few of them as I write this. If you ever have the time throw down a few more good titles you know of, I don't care whether their normal anime or hentai as long as their good .

Well, I was more just listing ones that fit the category off the top of my head then recommending any of them.

The movies in particular are lackluster like I said. To use an example, barefoot gen is just fucking propganda leading up to 3 minutes of the atomic bomb dropped on them and it melting the flesh off of kids and the like that highlighted the movie before hand. Fits with the threads theme, but it's a pretty stupid movie. Same with karas and the like.

Berserk is a great anime that's worth watching even if it covers like 1/20th of the manga's story.

Higurashi is freaking great if you watch it like it's supposed to be, a detective/mystery type anime. You're supposed to put it all together, and figure out why the things happened. If you leave it at "loli's killing people" then you probably won't get much out of it.

Gantz is all right and has some good points, but is ultimately ruined with its made up anime only ending.

Guess claymore has some blood and gore also come to think of it. Is interesting and full of surprises/twists, but the last 2 episodes that where made up just to end the anime series are so bad they ruin the whole series almost, much like gantz.


The hentai is....well...hentai. Not much story or anything you're going to get out of them. Sexual stuff is preference also. Kind of hard to suggest it.

Man, Berserk. I should watch that again for like the fifth time. Even though it's the ultimate cock block. I wish they'd bring it back somehow, but then they might ruin it, so eh. And I don't really like reading Manga so I'll probably never know the rest of the story.

I feel the same way, I hate how they never come through with second seasons. I also have the manga's laying around on my hard drive but I'm just too lazy to read them, I guess I'm more of a show/movie person .

A few older ones that popped into my head.

Ayakashi is almost ridiculous with how often body parts like fingers are being cut off, along with many other things.

School days just has 1 scene, and it's a kind of neutered/mixture of endings from the game anyways. Would be better off telling someone to "Just look at the school days endings on youtube" honestly. Especially the
Conclusion of Blood
one

Narutaru is pretty tame for most all of the animes run, but has a couple scenes at the very end, which once again, you would be better off just using youtube if you wanted to see them. Although the manga's much more explicit and "FUCKED UP" with both of the scenes.

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan is insanely unique because it's gory as all hell, but is also an ecchi love comedy. Makes it certainly unique among the suggestions, lol..

Baccano has some, but it's feels much tamer then other series.

Hellsing also has some but just doesn't feel like it belongs being added with others.


For some more recent ones:

Kurozuka had some, but it was few and far between with a beyond confusing and weird story.

Umineko is another case of higurashi. Censored to all hell with these t.v. airings, guess we'll see with the dvd's though. The visual novels are SO GOOD though as a side note, and almost all are translated into english now.



Glancing back at this made more jump into my head. Almost don't know what I should feel about having watched so many gory/violent ones, hah..

Great series! I just finished the 4th DVD.
